People are happy that Nissan Maxima's have a timing chain instead of a belts that may break, but what people don't realize is that it does have 'timing chain tensioners' that do. I have a '95 Niss Max that needs to have the timing tensioners replaced which is going to cost about $1000+ to be fixed. I only have 150K on my car.

if it were a domestic, it'd most likely be sitting in a junkyard at that mileage. be thankful that's all that's wrong after 150K miles.

Hummmm Mines at 164,XXX miles engine is solid. I been to alot of junk yards this past summer, and rarely seen 4th gen maximas. The only reason that they ended up there because they were hit with 150,XXX plus miles on them. Good luck.

One more thing try spending couple hundred dollars more and buy a used engine with low miles. Thats what i would do.
