A little disappointing to me. Personally i'd love to pick up a 02' SS or WS6 anyday over that.

yucky, but it does have the LS2...

not bad, not bad at all, a monsterous machine with a quite nicer body then the base. i like it :)

I think the styling is still a bit understated.

Damn, that's really nice. So are they still gonna offer a base model w/ the LS1?

08-30-2004, 06:45 PM
looks like a grand am with a facelift... nice engine though. 389ci would be a 6 liter?

RedLightning
08-30-2004, 06:46 PM
well in 05 the base model has an ls2, i have a thread about it in the pontiac section, or check out newagegto.com im gessing the judge is coming out in 06.

So they're re-designing the GTO in 2006, after only two years on the market?

DeViL
08-30-2004, 07:13 PM
Its not a redesign, thats basically a Holden Manaro with a different body kit. Interior is still the same but orange and black to of course match the Judge.

You know that Chevy SSR, the retro-style truck, is also getting the LS2 in 2005?

RedLightning
08-30-2004, 08:01 PM
yea which is nice b/c gm is not being stupid and only giving the new corvette the ls2.

I would take it anyday over those.

So they're re-designing the GTO in 2006, after only two years on the market?

Maybe you havnt heard of a lot of the complaints expectant buyers gave GM. They were expecting a new age mean looking muscle type. Instead they got the refined look.

Actually the GTO was given a refined look for a reason. This isnt the 16yr old's sports car. This is the CEO of a major company's daily driving sports car. However with the new face lift for the judge (Which in my opinion mixes race type and refined), it seems that GM is pleasing both worlds. If I had the money, I would change my sig to read one of those.

The Pontiac dealerships aren't exactly helping this car thrive by jacking its $32,000 price to $38,000 for absolutely no reason. I've seen this at a couple dealerships where I live and they don't even list why the price has been upped.

kman10587
08-31-2004, 12:29 AM
The GTO is essentially a bigger, more luxurious Trans Am...I can't imagine it costing more than $10,000 over a Trans Am, $32,000 is high enough :/

xyfalconsrock
08-31-2004, 05:27 AM
A GTO is a Holden Monaro
The thing about the monaro is i dont think they want to redesign it bcoz it would have to look like a VY commodore and their fucking ugly. And their designed in australia, all the yanks do is make look reasonable.

I like it. Is the two door model lighter then the 4 door?

Underground_Killah
08-31-2004, 11:32 AM
I Believe it is, but i'm not 100% sure, most 2 doors are lighter than 4 doors.

DeViL
08-31-2004, 12:11 PM
Eh since when was there ever a 4-door version?

HighRev87
08-31-2004, 01:32 PM
Wow I was thinking that...but im not the best with GM cars, so i didnt say anything...

Oh sorry I mean is it lighter then the GTO?

DeViL
08-31-2004, 04:12 PM
Well I don't really know if its a fiberglass body but I doubt it, so it's probably around the same weight.

kman10587
08-31-2004, 05:19 PM
I'm just hoping the new GTO and new Camaro look a little more like muscle cars next time around, and that they cut out any luxury crap that they have to to keep the price under $30,000 for a V8 w/ a 6-speed.

RedLightning
08-31-2004, 06:21 PM
new Camaro

and ive got ocean front property in Illinois for sale.

I dont know what all the complaints are about, I love it. I dont care if the new GTO doesnt have any similiar characteristics as the old GTO. The point is.......at least we have a modern day muscle car now. Remmember, the SS and Trans Am are gone now.

This GTO Judge design is nice and I cant wait to see them. :sunglasse

Uh...I thought GM was bringing it back for 2007. I guess not...my comments apply only to the new GTO then :)

Oh yeah, isn't Dodge bringing back the Charger soon, or is that just another dumb rumor?

HighRev87
08-31-2004, 08:46 PM
I agree totally, it's time to stop bashing and see the new age of muscle. Even the C6 vette comes with in dash navigation... and I love both cars.

I also havnt heard anything about a new camaro...but if it were true...i cant wait to see it in action.

Fiberglass body? I would looooove to see that. However I think the Chevy Powertrain is as close to a corvette as the GTO will get for now...but please prove me wrong GM :)

kman10587
08-31-2004, 08:47 PM
Bleh, I don't like the fact that modern muscle cars have all these luxury features. All it does is jack up the price and the curb weight.

I think I have to agree, If I want leather interiors and a luxurious ride, I'll buy a Mercedes.

With a GTO, I want power, power, and more of it. OK MAYBE some comfy seats too... :icon16:

The GTO was as lux as it was performance from the day it left the lot. In fact, Pontiac did all they could, especially with the first gen (1964 to 1967) GTO's to maintain a stately country club image for the car, making sure it was a more refined and comfortable car than its Chevrolet stablemate - the Chevelle.

Only the 1969-1972 GTO Judges were as raucous and raunchy as the SS Chevelles, GSX Buicks, and the myriad of badass Chrysler products.

Besides, there are only two cars that can ever claim to truly be called "Gran Turismo Omologato", and all others are merely pretenders to the name.

Last I checked, those two don't wear Pontiac or Mitsubishi emblems.

The looks have yet to grow on me.. which is unfortunate.. sorta.

But I certainly do like the looks of the motor. The intake setup looks sooo coooooool!!! so unrestricted. I wonder how well that works in wet conditions.

Like I said earlier im not the best with chevy engines, but the ls2 = 6.0 liter current corvette engine correct?

-Josh-
09-02-2004, 09:10 PM
Poor sales, and nothing but negative comments from the media(aside from HTR) will kill the GTO soon. It's only scheduled to be on the Holden platform for three years, after that who knows if they'll even keep it going. Yes the C6 Vette engine is the 6.0 LS2

I think it looks badass. The wheels are perfect, and the color is nice. I wish they'd take off the crhrome or whatever around the grill, and remove the gaping hole in the rear fascia where the old exhaust was. The GN style exhaust is really cool though.

If the concept charger comes out though that would be the $hit

I still like it. It's fast, stylish and clean enough to get you to the office, not that I would know (im 17), And just wait till lingenfelter get's it paws on the judge. They already make this possible out of the current one:
510 BHP @ 6000 RPM
530 lbs-ft of torque @ 4600 RPM

HighRev87
09-02-2004, 09:19 PM
That charger looks sick. Can you link us to some stats? first im seeing of it, stupid car and driver not being on top of things.

-Josh-
09-02-2004, 09:21 PM
LOL.....It doesn't have a BMW badge on it, why would car and driver be interested in it.

http://www.lhmopars.com/images/Concept-Dodge_Charger_Details.jpg

For those without a microsope
supeercharged 16valve 4.7L sohc V8 325 hp and 320 lb-ft @ 2,250rpm
T-5 five speed manual
DANA 44 with 3:9:1 ratio
4 wheel independent suspension and disc brakes
3,375lbs

I would take this for anything but it was displayed along with the concept vehicle a long time ago. I would expect the new one to have the hemi with the whipple supercharger as the r/t model

HighRev87
09-03-2004, 01:47 PM
325? I really hope that gets pushed up. Even the current production cobra would kill it. The concept looks great.

As for the C/D comment, so true. And that is coming from both a C/D fan and a BMW fan.

I like the back of the Charger a lot and the rest is pretty cool except the grill. When I saw that first pic I thought it was a stratus concept :icon16:

HighRev87
09-03-2004, 03:31 PM
Thats true the back is the meanest part of it, the rest looks like a mix of stratus and eclipse concept. But it wont come out looking like that so dont worry. Maybe the back will remain but the curves in the body make it pricey to make, maybe to pricey to be in a good price range.

:iagree:
the back is sick! but the side and front views are weak. i dono but i like the more old school look for muscle cars, more boxy. like what ford is doing with the mustang, i cant wait till the new svt cobra comes out! anyone seen any concept pics of these?
