i thought IROC's had tpi motors? if so, it should't have map sensor, should have a maf sensor

all EFI cars have a MAP sensor.

only pre-1990 have MAF sensors 90-92 use MAP. on third gens it was one or the other. tbi uses speed density, while 86-89 tpi used MAF, they dont have both MAP and MAF sensors

well, my code is flashing that there is a MAP sensor problem and the parts store sold me a MAP sensor specifically for my car, the book shows that it should be located on the firewall attatched with a bracket, but I can't find it.

yes it should be mounted to a bracket that is mounted to the firewall to the left of the distributer, has a green 3 wire connector and a plastic vacuum line on the bottom.....but only if you have tbi. if your motor is tpi and original, then you dont have a map sensor, you have maf sensor.

tpi didn't get MAP sensors until 1990

you shouldn't we all make mistakes.
for the first 3 months of me owning my car, i thought i had 3.3 liters for some odd reason, even though it says under my hood 3.0 liters. not to mention the name 3000gt.
thats worth feeling dumb about.

your tpi should be exactly the same as mine and it uses a maf sensor which is connected to the rubber boot thats hooked upto the throttle body
