Cruise Control

Where is the fuse located for cruis control? I've looked in the fuse panel and under the hood with no luck. Please help.

Don't think there is a a fuse on the fuse box. I didn't see one on my 1990 cherokee Ltd

What happened to your cruise? A fuse would only go if there wa an electrical surge. Cherokees are bad when it comes to battery leakage which secondarily can corrode the vacuum lines that pass near the battery. This can drop your cruise control and ac function. My cure for my vehicle was to get the soft recall fix battery cables (stainless steel connectors at local parts shop) and use thin plastic brake tubing for the vacuum lining.

I did have to repair the vaccume line by the battery. You were right the corrosion ate right through them. It didn't fix the problem. Any other suggestions?

Ok how long has the cruise not worked and is your ac working now?
When your cruise control worked did you experience drop-outs or problems maintaining the vehicle at the set speed?

The reason I ask is that when your cruise goes and you have had those symptoms, its generally a vacuum leak.
You need to make sure you eliminate all the vacuum leaks. When mine started leaking every time I used the Ac the cruise wouldn't function properly. I fixed the vacuum leak and both worked fine.

Down in the corner of the passenger side front pumper as I recall, there is a vacuum canister you need to make sure the vacuum line is still connected to that.

I used brake tubing and just replaced all the vacuum lines. Now due to all the customizing done these days you can also get braided slip covering and run all the lines through that for added protection.

Also get the new stainless steel battery cables at your local auto shop. The battery leakage will remain until you do so. If you notice lots of acid deposits and I'm guessing yours has that problem there's no sense fixing the vacuum lines so they can get acid on them again.

The cruise control has been out for about 3 months. I never had a problem with the AC. When you set the cruise it takes about 10 minutes for it to catch. When it does its usually about 10 MPH below where I set it. It wont maintain speed on the smallest incline.

I haven't checked the vaccume ball up front but I know where it is.

Sounds to me like you still have a vacuum leak. When vacuum is lost its difficult for the cruise control to operate effectively. If the cruise works well but once engaged sets higher or lower than the targeted speed there is an adjustment that can be made. This however, doesn't seem to be your problem.
You have to check the entire system making sure all the fitting are tight and none of the lines are leaking. You could let a trustworthy mechanic handle the problem if you can't find any leaks. It would probably only cost you 1 hour in labor.
