Man, my life's pretty shotty at the moment, but I can't really complain, except about my dad.
This is the 2nd thread I've made about my dad, but this just pushes it.
He has got hardly any money, and is unemployed basically, since I left the business, he's been too lazy to do anything and was forced to close.
Now, his father has moved out of home, they're selling the house, and he's getting over $70k.
This is what he plans on buying:
$40k+ 4x4, upgrading his current one
$5k+ laptop
$2.5k+ bike for my asshole brother
$10k+ vacation (because 10 years isn't enough)
and basically spend the rest on crap he doesn't need.
God forbid he spend anything towards our education, my 10k+ HECS fees which my mum is single handedly paying her self (I'm helping as much as I can).
This might be too much information, but my dad hasn't spent $0.01 (1 cent) on us since he left over 10 years ago. And it pains me.
Sure, he bought me my brew kit, oh wait, no he didn't I did.
And he did pay for my trip around australia, oh wait, no he didn't, MUM DID!
And he's helping mum with paying off the house, oh wait, no he's not, mum has payed off ALL of it.
He didn't even pay for my equipment. Mum paid for my guitar, I bought my last guitar, and mum bought all my pedals, leads, and my amp.
Now dad says he might be able to afford to buy me a new amp (which he promised over a year ago, he said "if you get into uni, I'll buy you a new amp, any amp you wish", well, I got in, and almost finished my 1st year) still no amp. Then I over heard my brother saying "I thought it cost 1.5k, I was wrong, it's actually 2.5" So I start questioning, because THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY, and mum's like "oh, your father's going to buy him a new bike" and I yelled "ANOTHER ONE? for 2.5? Get fucked!" He just GOT a new bike, for 400 bucks.
God almighty help me. I have an asshole brother who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing. And a father the same.
Oh and by the way, I actually managed to con dad into just fixing his car up instead of forking out 40+k for a new one (dickhead).
He has a computer, but he NEEDS a laptop. Bloody hell, I was saving up for a laptop as I'll be moving to campus soon, within a year.
Speeking of which, I have to bludge off the government at the moment, as well as work my ass off, saviing all my money up so I can afford to live on campus for 6 months (by choise), god forbid's he help pay for it!
Oh man, sometimes I think everyone in this shitty world is against me. I'm making my own name, I'm making my own living (apart from the bludging of the government thing, which is jack shit) and the second he gets a once off inheritence, he spends it all, ALL. On him self at that.
He got a 60k workers comp about 7 years ago now (fucked up his back working at the hospital, he was a wardsmen, and that's true, not a shotty one) and he bought new car, spent 10k on a caravan (still use it) upgraded it, and built on for about 8k, 10k trip around australia, and just lived of the savings for the next year or two, then got a job, quit that after 4 years, and lived of savings, till he went into sales job, that wasn't working out, so he brought me in, and productivity and money went up, he riped me off, refused to pay me (so he could buy more shit he doesn't need) so I quit, then all hell broke lose.
The 30-odd-grand I saved him from spending will go towards him self, not my education, not my brothers education (which he claims he'll drop out end of this year, hahaha, dickhead), and hell (not he'll, yes, hell)knows he won't spend it on anyone else.

Steal his laptop and take it to college with you. I wouldnt feel an ounce of guilt given the way you say he treats you.

haha, I could... But I would feel an ounce of guilt
Re-reading my post, I got a little over-hyped, but I was telling the truth. Unfortunatly.
I love the guy, he's my dad, I just disagree with his ideology that he comes first

Just take his laptop. My parents wont spend jack shit on me either, I have to work for everything. Ive paid for all my furniture, well they paid for it by skimming money out of my bank account :banghead: If my family goes to a movie they pay for my sister, but i have to pay for myself. If my dad says lets go out for a nice family dinner, i always end up paying for my meal. They complain that I cant save any money, yet they charge me rent, my insurance is through the roof, $5200/year on a car maybe worth $1600 and as far as my insurance company knows i have a perfect driving record. Ill probably have to sell my car in November once they find out about my speeding ticket :disappoin

I'm sorry about your dad. I don't know what its like to be in that situation. And I hope that I never have to be. It's ok to vent and let it out, it helps to get over things. I'm a very good listener (as i said in an earlier post) so if you need to talk, my PM box is always open and I'm usually on aim. I feel terribly that your dad won't help you with your education. IMO I think that if it isnt financially impossible, that the parents should atleast HELP to fund your education. It's part of you growing into an adult and that's what they have been doing the past 18 years...right? anyways, I am sorry about your situation, if there is anything I can do to help, you know how to reach me <3

Nope Its a $1600 old 84 POS 4 door buick :( My parents have a few tickets but nothing major, but i have my own plan anyways so that shouldnt matter. If i were to have my parents put the car under there name and have me as the primary driver it would only cost me $2500/ year but no my dads an ass and says "You need the responceability of bills to pay" What a fucking asshole! If it werent for the damn insurance i would have been able to move out already :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

You tend to get dinged based on who is in your house, because of the chance that they will borrow your car, or run into it, or whatever.

Even still that is too much f-ing money. Are you living in NJ or Florida or something? CRAZY. My first car (I know I'm female, but bear with me) was a $2500 Nissan Sentra and I got FULL coverage for $50 a month. My husband when he was single, insured a 99 Maxima SE for $180/month.

OHHHH, it is in Canada $$$, huh? Not so ridiculous then. Is all ins. there that expensive?
edit: that explains a lot, I was trying to figure how he could possibly get a $5k laptop too, unless it was an SGi.

Thanks guys for teh support, and thanks SeXy_AnGeL <3
I'm glad I don't pay rent, I don't exactly have the money...Well, I do, but if I start paying rent, something has to go, which would be one of these:
1. petrol for my car
2. food in my belly
3. text books, and other spending for uni
I have to fork out $399 for a program for a uni project I have to get, and I legally have to purchase it through the facualty if I don't already have it, they want proof that I actualy OWN it, and didn't do my assignment on an illegal copy (which is bullshit but it's uni regulations)
