2001 Z71

I have noticed a noise like "clanking" when putting in gear. Has anyone had this problem with 2001 chevy Z71?

I had the same problem and it was the out put shaft from the transfer case to the rear drive shaft. You can buy the replacement for about $170.00. But first try packing the splines of the shaft with synthetic grease. It worked on mine.
