My tranny is messed up HELP!!!!

Hi, I bought a 90 talon tsi form a kid who had side swiped it into a gaurd rail. It runs good and the body damge is fixable, but the tranny is really messed up. The kid said that it was the clutch but the car wont even stay in gear??????? I just need to know what i have gotten myself into and what is wrong with my tranny. Also if i need a whole new tranny then i would be willing to buy one from someone. Please I need help!!!

might need a simple tranny rebuild. is it awd or fwd?

The talon is awd.

awd tranny rebuild cost a lil more but it shouldnt be too bad.

you can find a different one for cheaper than having the old one rebuilt

U HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM!!! this could be an indication of a loose retaining nut inside the transmission. Several 1G DSMers have had the rotten experience of having this nut come off completely, and consequently blasting a hole in their transmission. This problem only affects FIFTH gear - gears 1 through 4 and reverse do not appear to suffer from this difficulty.

its an easy fix but dont drive it or u will have MAJOR damage to ur transmition
