Hey,

I have a 95 Grand Prix SE with the 3.1 Liter V6 and 4 Speed Auto FWD, Is it possible to swap that motor with the Superchared 3800 Series 2 ?Also I like the Idea of the Getrag 5 Speed Manual is this possible? If I did swap the motor, do I need to change the existing tranny, what about suspension? Motor mounts, would is just bolt in or would i need to fabircate special brakets. If thats not possible what about the 3.4 DOHC ? the 3.1 is prety powerfull but i want more, what about a supercharger for that ? Also in 1990 Z24 Cavilers the 3.1 Series 1 was offered with a 5 speed ? would that be possible for my Series 2 3.1? Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks

between the wiring and ecm changes, plus year to year parts interchange issues, your engine swaps are not practical. You would be better off selling your car and buying a new one with a 3800 S/C already in it. The only years the Grand Prix came with a 5 spd was 91-93, and most of those were turbo as well, but they are rare. It would require a complete engine, wiring harness, ecm, trans, axles, console, shifter, pedals, etc from a donor car to make it work, and that's just not practical.

Will the 3.8 fit into a 91 GP 3.4?

With the right tools, anything will fit. How much money are you working with?

hey its totally possibal and actually not to hard with a 95 se... i have a 94 se it has the same 4 speed auto its a 4t60e.. that is the same transmission used in buick with the 3800 series 1 supercharged engine... so if you can find a series one like i did... has a gray cover instead of black and red it will bolt right onto the tranny no mods needed bolt right into the engine mounts with no mods.. all you need is the ecm and the wiring harness off the buick most common is the park ave custom.. i picked one up for like 200 bucks for the engine and another 150 for the harness... now the new harness will plug right into the original auto trans no cutting wires no nothing just try to find a complete engine or its a little more than just drop and drive... but do you feel a differance...in the park ave it flys and a 94-96 gp weighs like half that.. so hold on.. all in all maybe a full weekend job with buddies and you probably should rebuild the trans and engine... whenever you put a bigger engine on a trans that had a smaller one previously you just cut the life in half so you would be lucky to get 6 months out of the trans if you drive it hard.. but good luck took me about 6 months to track one down but once i did did full body change kinda has a rice rocket look now lots of nice mid 80's to early 90's gp after market parts here www.andysautosport.com i got the body kit for mine huge differance
