Brake Problem 2000 Suburban

I have a 2000 4WD Suburban and when I come to a stop and make a
left handed turn I get a pulsing effect in the brake peddle. It stops
straight, with no pull, and have not had the problem when I make a
right handed turn. I have found no brake fluid leak and otherwise
the braking system seems to be in good shape. Replaced pads, rotors and calipers on the front about 3000 miles ago and did not have the problem until now. Anybody experience similar problems and suggestions
would be appreciated.

Two possibilities. Warped rotors or your ABS is kicking in. However, I wouldn't expect the direction of your turn to affect either of those.

Is it all left hand turns? I ask because I've also got a 2000 4wd Suburban and there's one particular intersection that usually triggers my ABS. There's a bump in the road right at a mandatory left turn.

I have noticed the same problem on a 1998 surburban but still havent had the time to really get into it to find the problem.I not only feel the brake peddle shutter and drop out on turns but also on stops.Near the end of a stop if I let up on the peddle and then reaply it gently the peddle will pulsate and almost drop to the floor.At this point im guessing that its the master cylinder.This is with out any testing other than driving.If you replace or have replaced the master let me know how you made out with it.If i get a chance to get back on the surburban again ill let you know what i came up with.

If it is a pulse that can be felt during lightly applying the braken you probably have a warped rotor, If it's within spec have it turned or it may have been turned one too many times already that's why it warped. I never liked the ABS on my 93 I actually disabled it and have better brake control that way. Just my preference but overall the brakes on most suburbans are undersized/underpowered for the size of vehicle.

I have the same problem with my 1997 2500. I had the rotors turned and ever since, I have had alomos the identical problem!

I am desperately searching fo the solution.

Replace your Bushings on your caliper thru bolts. You have 2 rubber bushings on each caliper thru bolt mounts in the caliper housing. Replace the bushings and grease them well before installation. They are availalble at the local parts store. This will stop the pulse problem.

Thank yuo for the tip, it seesmas if this is an easy inexpensive fix. I will tyr it and report on how it works. Out curiosity...does the pulsing occur because the wormn bushings allow the caliper to move and ultimately bind? That would make sense.

I believe the rubber buhing freeze up and do not allow the calliper to float on the rotor as it should. You can buy new mount bolts, bushings and dust caps from the local parts store. Don't be suprized if it take several trips, as most parts stores do not carry many alot of these certain parts. I just recently purchased a new set of Raybestos Ceramic pads for my 99 Tahoe and it inclueded the bushing and dust caps. I was very surprized. A very small portion of the population know that these parts need replaced during a brake job. I had the same problem on my 91 K2500 GMC and the 99 Tahoe. I just replaced brakes on a friends 2002 Tahoe and it looks like GM got smart and replaced the bolt and bushing concept for the front rotors. It is allot better.

Had the same problem on my 2000, ended up being the ABS sensors. They get some rust on them and cause incorrect readings. They can be cleaned up, but requires taking the hubs apart. Dealer did both front wheels, about 2+ hours labor only, no parts

Thank you for the information, I am having my truck looked at again tomorrow. Did you have any codes show up when they scanned the trucks computer? Did your ABS light ever trip? These guys at the dealer only seem to believe me if they get a code from the scan. They turned the rotors (again) and replaced the pads. $350.00 later and still no change...very frustrating. They said they had never heard of this and think my wheels are causing the problem (alloys same size as stock).

Mine is a '97 2500, does anyone know if these have the same hub assembly as a 2000?

Are you sure you steeing wheel doesnt pull to one side just a little bit?Mine just started and the front end ideler arm and such is worn.Drives straight and doesn pull but when i just touch the brakes the steering wheel,whith hands off,moves a little to the left??
