Locking up in Turns

I have a 2002 4 runner not 4wheel drive. The Skid control lights come on in curves and sometimes it locks up. This scares me. It is still under warranty and the dealer says they do this when the brake fluid is alittle low. I am afraid to drive it out of town. Is it time to trade?

By lock-up do mean the brakes lock and you skid ?

How many miles on you 2002 ? I would question slightly low braek fluid level being the problem too...assuming you are talking about the anti-skid light. Also...this is the only recall I can find that is even slightly related..
TOYOTA 4RUNNER RECALL
3/14/2002
Toyota is recalling 273,743 4Runner sport utility vehicles because of a handling problem.

The vehicles can be difficult to control if they are overloaded and the driver makes a hard turn, Toyota spokesman John Hanson said. The problem was discovered during vehicle testing, and the company is not aware of it happening on the road, he said.

The recall, announced Wednesday by the federal auto safety regulators, covers the 1996-1998 model years. The problem only affects the two-wheel-drive models. Hanson said Toyota is recalling the four-wheel-drive versions to avoid confusion.

Owners will be notified by mail and dealers will replace the rear springs and other parts of the rear suspension free of charge.

Sometimes the lights and beeping come on, skid light, sometimes it locks the front brake on the side you are turning usually the right. I don't know anything about cars, my brother keeps saying sensors
