Well, I didnt think I was gonna enter this, but I figured with such a great turnout so far, why not? So I grabbed my closest model, which happened to be my DubCity Chevy S10 Crew Cab, and started chopping.

Here's how it looked out of the box. Actually it had different wheels:

http://www.jadatoys.com/images/DC_1-24_00chevy_S10.jpg

And here's where Im at now:

http://img53.exs.cx/img53/1196/antitled-1.jpg

Plans:

Exterior- Shaved doorhandles, gas cap
Paint- Im thinking 2 tone with bright blue and light tan
Interior- Tan leather (flat paint), some TV's, remove rear bench and put in 2 buckets
Audio/Visual- TVs and speakers wherever I can fit them
Wheels- Chrome, havent decided which ones yet.

Any suggestions/comments are welcome!

Looking good, havent seen a convertable of those yet.

Where did you get them wire wheels at? Those would go great on the Grand National I am doing for the contest.

Update

I took out all of the stock interior stuff, and Im building it all up from scratch.

Im doing a bench in the back from a BMW model I have, and the front buckets will be from the truck originally. Im using the original center console too, but I had to cut it down to fit with the new back seats.

Im also going to shave the rear door lines, and make it a two door:biggrin:

flyskyline- I got those wheels off of an old Impala from Jada's old "Street Low" series.

nice so far. i have a suggestion..
to create two door.. needs to move back the door(longer door)... is it hard? hehe

KustmAce
08-29-2004, 11:30 PM
I thought about that, but I think it would be way harder than it would be worth, not to mention I think it would look kinda funny

EDIT:

Final update for tonight:

Another update--

Stripped the paint off the body, and as you can see, just applied the putty to shave the rear doors/handles.

If anybody has any other suggestions for me for the body PLEASE throw them out here, I would love to get some more ideas from you all!

Have you thought about removing the piece of metal that use to seperate the cab and the bed, and make it a long bed? Or are you planing on keeping the rear seats. Also have you thought about new hinges for the hood, tailgate, doors? I will have to check on my 4 door S-10, but I know of a way to make the tailgate "disappear" after it is opened. If you are interested let me know and I will see if it will work on the diecast and then I will get you some directions.

Im definately keeping the rear seats. I have pics of the new bench in, but I havent uploaded them yet. I wanted to make suicide doors, but I dont know where I could put new hinges so they werent in the way of the seats. And I wanted to make a swing out tail gate, but again, no idea where to start. And Im workin on a suicide hood right now, thinking of a way I could do that.

But I am interested in your disappearing tailgate thing, so let me know if you can get it to work

FlySkyline
08-31-2004, 01:16 AM
Well I am ahead of you on that, its not exactly a suicide hood, but it is a suicide hood and when you open the hood, it comes off at a little angle. But it could be a suicide hood if I move the hinge over to the center.

Its hard to tell what PETET did in those pictures, but for those who cant tell, he extended the front doors.

I think it looks kind of funny, expecially with the rear seats in.

KustmAce
08-31-2004, 01:58 AM
Actually, I didnt extend the front doors. I just eliminated the back doors, and moved the rear seats forward by adding seats with that rear deck.

KustmAce
09-08-2004, 12:14 AM
Thanks cwmax, I think it is the contrast!

I was tinkering with an idea in PS, kind of an homage to old sleds:

Might be an option.

cwmax
09-08-2004, 12:36 AM
You might be able to pull that off, the lil skirt around the bottom don't look right, may be the breaks in it by the rear wheels. But ... you would need to extend the front doors and mold in the body lines to make it look like it fits ...

Like this ...

Rock on man! We're gonna have the sickest sleds around :D, were pioneering the way!
One question, is it laying frame? Or just tucking slightly...?

KustmAce
09-08-2004, 08:35 PM
Frame is on the ground.

I think Ive decided to mold the skirts and rear ground effect to the body, and add some dimension to the front lip.

mike@af
09-08-2004, 08:55 PM
I'm still not a fan of the convertible, nor the lip. The lip looks out of place if you will. Like it was just put there.

The homage idea sounds kind of cool. Ever look at a 49 Merc? You know how the front of the fenders slope to the front of the back fender? That would be really cool to do if you were to cover the rear wheel. I'll make out a chop or sketch.

You need to incorporate the skirts and front bumper addition into the body. Put on some putty and smooth it out. Also some fog lights might make it more interesting. That and/or an intake.

cwmax
09-10-2004, 11:56 AM
I don't think the spoiler was taking from the front, it was fine, but now that it's done, it gives a sorta GT race look, like there's some ground effects package under there.

But this is what I see. WTH are these things?? Tow hooks?

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/198972s10-002r.jpg

This area could be filled and like Gafoto said put some fog lights in it.. or...

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/198972s10-003r.jpg

Cut it out, have the sides of the opening follow the lines of the spoiler cut. You could still incorporate fog lights, air intake etc in there.

Look'n good

Gafoto
09-10-2004, 12:06 PM
How about a flat piece of black plastic flat on the bottom? It would make a line on the bottom and make that big hole on the bottom into an intake. Just cut it to follor the line of the bumper.
