New to the forum. Hope you can help me. I have a 1994 Taurus. The power window relay all of a sudden trips and gets hot. I know this is a short someplace but, I wonder if anyone had the problem and can direct me to the likely answer to the problem. PW switch, wire fray, harness etc. I replaced the relay and it still trips repeatedly and I removed it so I don't burn up the wires. Suggestions? QuietGiant

Actually, I mis-spoke. I did not remove the "relay" I removed the breaker, which is located in the fuse bank under the dash (left side) the diagram on the fuse box will direct you to the breaker.
(Silver rectangle, should be 2. One to the right is the windows breaker.)

The relay should be located along the firewall in the engine compartment. your parts store should be able to show you where. Or, you can borrow a repair manual or look in your owners manual.
Goos luck.

Thanks QuietGiant,
I found the window breaker and nothing wrong with it
After consulting with a local Ford dealer, I found out that the "window safety relay" does not exitst as the Chilton manual said, Also, most wiring schematic colors were wrongly called out (don't buy Chilton's unless it is the hi end manuals). Ford spec says it is "Window Regulator Control Assembly" PN 14B118 cost $60US. It is back plastic-cased and located inside the driver side plastic door trim panel. Looks like the unit shorted out after all resistance measured across all 5 terminal swere around 0 to 250K Ohm. It is solid state relay, btw. Hope this helps some Taurus owners out there.
