Air cond. problem ?

Have a '03 Sierra, 4.3, auto with 25,000 on it. Last week while driving to VA, broke down outside Baltimore. Truck just shut down. Would crank 2-3 seconds than cut out. Called GMC service, had towed to dealer in Baltimore. 2.5 hours after breaking down on the road again. Dealer told me problem was water in the dist. cap and rotor from condensation from the high pressure air cond. line which runs over the cap and rotor. That's what he replaced and runs fine since.

Question 1. Does this sound right?

Question 2. If I put some pipe insulation on the line to stop the condensation would it hurt the line?

Just don't want to run into more problems.

Thanks for your time.............

Because the truck is still under warranty I would say not to do anything but if you want to put some of that rubber pipe insullation (like for a hot water heater) around it I dont think you will cause any problems. I would go to my purchasing dealer and ask for the shop forman and ask him to check for TSBs (Technical Service Bulleton) on that concern.

I don't know much about the 4.3L eng but I think they are using distributorless ignition systems and don't have distributor caps and rotors, so I think it sounds alittle fishy but again I really don't know.
