Heater Core

I had my heater core on my 95 Aurora blow out. Does anyone know the cost to have it replaced? I saw in another thread, someone said the core itself is around $60, with a couple hours labor. My mechanic told me total parts and labor is around $700. That's more than a couple hours labor!!!

Thanks for any information.

Check with other non-dealer shops too- a heater core shouldn't be hard to come by at Napa or wherever they get their parts. Most have a lifetime warranty, unless they are downright cheap/shoddy.

Sorry though, it's not a problem I've had with this car. I replaced 5 with an 89 Grand Prix at about $300 though. That was parts and labor. Well, I replaced one with a lifetime warrantied part that never lasted over 2 weeks at a stretch until I bitched and got all my money back and went elsewhere...

I say its worth every penny to me not to have to contort myself under the dash to change one again.
