Ok so ive heard about these "resistors" you can hook up to your ECU and they are about 10 bucks on ebay and they claim 20 HP gains by telling the ECU the temp is 0.00. How safe are these? something tells me this will send my engine to hell.

the little resistor is normally a 3.3K ohm resistor.
You plug it into you IAT sensor and it basically tells your computer that the air coming into your intake manifold is 98 or so degrees.
With this being the case, your computer advances your timing a bit and increases the amount of fuel going into your engine.
This can be bad as well as good...
I would only do it if you have tried at the track and it proves itself.
I would not drive like this all the time. It can leave more deposits on your pistons and such and I would only do this if you really cant think of anything else to help your car faster.....
I had it on my del sol when i first got it and would run a 10.6 1/8th
I removed it and got a faster time of like 10.5. No lie!
I really think that my car was slower with this thing in.... oh well, at least i didnt pay 10 bucks for it.

If you really think you need it, just go to radio shack and buy a 3.3K ohm resistor (if i remember correctly its orange orange red)

Ok so that will work on a 93 Si? Im gonna try it. Where exacly do you put it?

Your IAT sensor is located on your intake manifold in the back. There are 3 2-wire sensors and two are on the top on the actual tunnel. The IAT is down on the "header" lookin part.
Like I said, i dont advise running like this all the time and you need to make sure that the resistor is completely covered by electrical tape b/c it will only take one drop of water to short it out. I would also advise covering the sensor in the manifold because when you plug the wires back in, everything needs to be clean.
Good luck!
Let us know if it does ya some good!

Hmm one more thing...you sed it tells the ECu the temp is 98, the one i saw says 0.0 Is there a diff?

Well, I would think that if it tells the computer that the air is 0.0 degrees the computer would either:
A: read it as incorrect and throw a code... OR
B: (since 0 degrees is possible) when the air is that cold your computer greatly reduces the amount of fuel being pumped into the chamber, thus defeating the purpose of the IAT bypass. The only time you really could see a difference is when you run in the winter with the ait bypassed because your telling our your computer that the air is 98 degrees so it pumps more fuel, when its actually like 30. This means basically your getting more fuel for your air and winter air down here (mobile, AL) is so thick and full of oxygen that it actually can make a difference. As it is your car runs faster in winter b/c if air temperature.
It seems like the person selling this really has no clue as to what he is selling....not to mention its false advertising b/c everyone I've talked to said they say little or no gain...nothing ever near even 10 WHP.
