just had the first game of my season...
a little background -- My high school (Madison West) used to have an incredible football program, this was back in like the 70s and 80s, but they litteraly had to get on a bus and drive out of wisconsin to find teams willing to play them cause they killed everyone. But for watever reason things slowly went downhill for them, leading up to last year, my first season starting on varsity (as a sophomore :smokin: ) when we lost EVERY GAME, all of them. Mostly because Our head coach, Gilby brought in all new coached below him, the best, and they put in an incredibly complicated offence and defense, so we couldnt run it very well.
Two-a-days started on august 10th and the coached had every intention of busting our asses, around one hour was spent on conditioning every day, and they made sure we worked out the kinks in our offence, and brought in an even more aggressive defence. We are all tierd of losing so most of the players pushed through it, knowing that they would be payed back for their effort on friday night.
Friday night came yesterday. We faced Madison Memorial, coached by one of the sons of Madison west's old head coach from back when we were great, and this year Memorial was ranked 4th in the state. Coach gilby brought in a newspaper which predicted that we would be crushed 35-0 by Memorial. In the first half we played like crap, tons of penalties and what not, and more importantly, we were doen 13-6. However, in the second half me and the rest of the boys on the o line came ready to hit. We crused them up the middle with 24-25 isos, gives, and powers, and drove into our endzone 3 times in the second half, killing memorial, ranked 4th in the state, 28-19, we ended the game by taking an knee and running out the clock, but we were on the 3 yard line, so they should be thankful that we were gracious enough not to raise our score to 35.
ANYWAY i just had to write that down, but i was wondering if any ex / current football players had any stories about the game that they want to share.

Nice thread!
My team, the Heritage Eagles, have a HUGE rivalry, one of the biggest in the state, with the Arapahoe Warriors. Every year, we play them in a showdown game for the Brookridge Trophy. Well, we had been on a dry speel of about 5 years without the trophy in our house.
We go into the match undefeated, and its a huge battle the whole game. Well, its about 2 minutes left and were up by a field goal. And its very intense. Both stands are packed, and both are fired up. Arapahoe drives down the field, and scores. The place hoes nuts, and our team is bummed. So with about a minute left, we drive 90 yards with a hurry up offense, and on the last play of the game, we run a run to the left on the 5 yardline. Our star running back gets stuffed, and our side goes silent, theres goes nuts, and just when it was all over, our QB sprints outside and makes it to the corner of the endzone.
That was the most intense moment I have ever felt.
HS Football kicks ass.

Hey..i didnt play football but since your from wisconsin you might know where oak creek is? its the city south of milwaukee. Well out football team goes undefeated almost every year and then when they get to playoffs, the coach will make them do plays that they rarely practice and then they loose. Hes an idiot. My dad went to the same high school that i went to. his picture hangs in the weight room because his team won state back in 72. :)

this is my last year(most likely) playing football, my team was just like leadfoot's. we were once really a good damn team, but then our head coach left and we got another one, he was a really cool guy but not the greatest when it came to coaching. well anyways last year came and we got a new head coach(my junior year) and along with him came the coolest guy ive ever met, la'tef grim, former wide reciever for the pittsburg panthers(college) and former wide reciever for the lions... he is now our offensive coach and my god has he turned our program around, before my junior year my school did not win a single game for over 4 years. but last year came and we went i think 4-6 which i dont think is bad. and now this year has started. our first real game is in two weeks and we're gonna tear ass all over everyone

damn our teams do have a lot in common, our offensive coordinator that came in is also and ex college/nfl player, Bob Lansee, played Center and Guard for the wisconsin badgers and then for the eagles, offensive coordinator for some arena football team in Indianna during the off season. I swear to god he knows everything about the game, he even gives our kickers and punters advice on their form, damn good at it too. I donno, hes just the type of person that lives totaly for football.

It's easy to be good in a sport that the rest of the world doesn't play (aka fake football  )
Once the rest of the world starts to get serious about a sport (aka basketball), it's time to stop calling yourself "world champions" when you win the domestic league. FC Porto weren't "world champions" in soccer and they won Champion's League last year. :loser:
Either way, a fight between a football and a rugby team would be great to watch. :banghead:

I'm a sophomore this year for Wausau East football. Being in Madison, maybe you've heard of us? Well, this year our coach has high expectations. Hes a great head coach who lives for August through November. I'm slated to second string for tight end probably through most of the season, although I haven't seen playing time on Friday night yet. Our program is great, and our head coach spends lots of time in the off season going to seminars all over the country and talking to head coaches of college teams, and I think hes talked to the De La Salle coaches. Hopefully this year we'll do well, and looking at our team I'd have to say all the hype here in Wausau is not in vain. We look good. Maybe we'll play you guys in the playoffs :p

its not like we dont play rugby around here, im sure we arnt as good at it, but a few players from my school made the all american team, watever itc called, and they are not the three hardest hitters by any means. i dont think you understand how hard we hit in football, there is no way we could o it without pads, even with our helmets and everythig we still get concussions and broken ribs, and whatnot. The hardest hitters tend to be the players who just live for football and the hokey players, the rugby players are somewhere in the middle for the most part, but they all get hard ass hits on occation. And the reason football is called football is because originally there was no passing, the ball was always carried on foot, and the name wasnt changed when the rules were. I can understand why you wouldnt like football if you didnt grow up with it tho

:disappoin Ah, some people. If NFL/NCAA players didn't wear helmets and protection there would be multiple deaths every year. Football players hit with a much greater velocity, on average, than rugby players. Protection also adds another spectrum to the game, ever tried to play a sport with as much padding as football players use? The speed and agility these players have while wearing that shit is amazing. But, you wouldn't know that if you've never tried.
And just because you don't wear protection while playing a sport doesn't make you tough, it makes you stupid. Using your theory we could call hockey players pansies because they wear protection. Now that's just plain dumb.
Rugby players don't wear padding because they don't need it. Because it's a pansy sport. :p

what is your point, rugby players are too dumb to wear pads? heres an idea, the guy that gets hit enough to be put into a coma and doesnt put on pads doesnt look like a badass, he looks like an idiot.
if your arguing that rugby player hit as hard as football players your just wrong, screw a coma, if football players didnt wear pads, all of the linemen, linebackers, quarterbck, and runningbacks would be dead.
smartrisc, a news article archive, reported that when sensors were placed in the helmets of players at Virginia tech reported that the average hit was about equivalent to a professional boxers punch, and each player on average recieved around 2 hits per game equivalent to a SEVERE car crash, okay, this game is no joke, people hit hard as hell, and you dont understand how little the pads do to help this impact and will not untill you get onto a football field. I mean if every player got into two severe car crashes every game out or the 22 players, i gaurentee half would be dead at least, are half of all rugby teams dead after their games? no because they dont hit as hard

Keep showing your absolute ignorance, Leadfoot. Rugby players hit SMARTER. They have been trained to hit as hard as humanly possible without killing their oponents. They don't wear pads because it isn't part of the game.

I played football for the Randolph Blue Devils for all 4 years of high school. I was an Offensive Tackle, but I was also a great pulling guard and I could snap the ball if need be. We had lots of heart, but what sucked alot was that our numbers would start to drop towards the end of the season because of people flunking classes and not being able to play. same history with us....we were a killer team and we'd win alot of matches and whatnot, but now The Blue Devils can barely make it to .500 if that. The last two seasons ended less than .500 which sucked, but still we can only get better. Our team really is full of heart and lots of fighting spirit though.
I work with some of the people on the team, and i'm always asking them about what's going on in the team with practices and games and whatnot. I might not be playing football right now, but I know that I'll always be a Blue Devil:smile:
boy, did that last line sound corny or what?:p

stock grand prix gtp 0-60 = 6.6 seconds
I know, I was jk. Is that the new 260 hp time or the old one? Either way, I think the new rears are butt ugly and a race doesn't end at 62 mph .
I'm sure football players get hit hard, but I still think rugby is harder because of the constant movement. I don't see anyone "taking a knee" in rugby.

nah its a 99 gtp, 3800 series II, 240hp, 280tq. I dont like they new styling too much eith, it looks good from the sides, and pretty good front, but the rest is kinda ugly, but theyre fast as hell, i know a guy wit a comp g runs 12s with only like 1g of aftermarket parts, putting a larger cam in soon and then hell fuckin fly. And i agree that rugby is more tiering, but i am a lot more brused and beaten after a good football game
HogieGT-R - yeah we run a good deal of traps and shit, i was just listing the plays tht we were really throwing at them.

She just gaved me the wrong classes..and that messed me up! our cheerleaders are alright, some are hot!!
I just came back from our first game, against San Terisa, and we lost! 14-7. Our D was great!! But it was our WR that dropped the ball in the endzone like 3-4 times, and thats what killed us! But our D was hot! We caused to fumbles, and recover em! And a few sacks! But our WRs.. its ashamed, they could of done alot better, they made our QB look bad..
