Headliner removal in 2000 Silverado

I am trying to add a slide in bracket to the headliner of my 2000 Silverado (new body style) near the windshield. Does anyone know how the headliner is attached there and how to remove it? I need to at least make a gap between the headliner and the metal roof frame so I can slide the bracket in. Thanks!

First off... what are you trying to make? Now.. the only things that are holding the front of your headliner in is the 2 "A" pillar trim pieces, the sunvisors ( which are only held in with T-15 torx head screws) and your console if you have one. The console will have a phillips head screw near the windshield and after taking that out you should be able to pull it down ( pull hard). Good luck.

I am mounting a Whelen emergency strobe light and the bracket has to slide in between the headliner and the roof beam.

I am a volunteer firefighter in NY State - We are allowed to have blue warning lights on our vehicles for emergency response.

Are the front of these headliners supposed to be glued down or something? I can't get it down. I'm working on putting in a mirror with the temp, comp, auto dim and passenger airbag display. Got it from a wrecked suburban.

After I removed the post trim, sun visors and center console, the headliner did seem to have some glue on it along the front edge. But with a little tugging it came down OK. I've done this on 2 Silverados now and it was pretty simple. You'll find all the wiring you need for the new mirror tucked up in the headliner. Good Luck!

A friend of mine in highschool had a Ford ranger. He got some mini strobes from the autoparts and rigged them up to his cigarette lighter. They were mounted in the roof of his truck. We used to go out at night, get behind a car and "pull them over;" as they thought it was a cop behind them. Lotsa fun. He later got a ticket when he mounted them to his bumper

heh, that was kinda dumb.

I had a Dual dashMiser in above my rear-view mirror, but removed it and went for a stealth look...now all mine are hide-a-ways and grille.
