screw in tire

How dangerous is it to ride with a screw in the tire? Will it blow out causing me to wreck. I need to get the bike to the shop which is about 30 miles away. Should I ride it there or find some other way? I don't have a trailer so I'll have to pay a decent amount of money to get it towed over there.

Screw in the tire? I'm more worried about the nut behind the bars...haha

Seriously, is your tire actually leaking? Remove the screw, it may not have gone all the way through.

If it's leaking, find another way. Personally, I would not go anywhere with a screw plugging a hole in a tire. It's far too risky.

true that.. i dont know from experience if its safe or not, but fuck taking chances with your body and your pride and joy...

how about taking the wheel off, put it in the car (assuming you have one) and drive there?

I do appreciate the advice and I don't want to take the risk. Is it hard to take the tire off?

are we talking about the front or the back?

Id love to be able to help you but i fear my advice will not be 100% accurate and i dont want to harm you or your bike from giving incorrect advice so i think ill leave this for someone who actually rides and knows their stuff :) i dont know about the front, but i know on the back when you'r putting it back on theirs a bit of work to align the wheel and im assuming the chain tension will have to be correct.

The bike might be shaft drive.........
Nails etc in tires usually occurs in the rear tire.
Removing the rear wheel is usually pretty easy. Sometimes the owners manual shows how.

i had a nail in mine and i rode it about half that distance with no probs. didn't know how far i rode before i realisede i had a nail but i had a track day 2 days before. don't take it out if its leaking, loosen it and silicone up the hole and put it back in. i don't think you'll have a problem if you ride it there

Thanks for all the advice. Replaced the tire, so I'm back to safe riding.

Dude, bike tires aren't like car tires... plugs are a BAD idea for the long-term. At best, they are a way to get to a shop, but no more, IMHO.
