Stupid callers

OK. When calling a business as a potential client, don't think you are gonna get anywhere by being a rude @$$hole to the person answering the phone. Remember he/she has control of whether or not you will get transferred to where you need to go. The person answering the phone also does NOT have all the answers you are looking for. His/her job is to answer and transfer calls, not to be bogged down by a million questions or rudeness while 3 other lines are ringing in.
THis guy called (I'm on the phones while the receptionist is at lunch). I told him the person who could answer his questions was out for lunch and offered for him to leave a name and number on her voicemail. He said he didn't really have a number for her to call back to (well you called us, right? I'm thinking). So he asked if there was someone else he could talk to and I told him this lady was the only one that handles calls for his kind of matter. He asked if the phone consultation was free and I said yes. Then he just did a 180 on me and started bitchin at me on how we charge too much (he's not even a client) and his tone was extremely rude. Then he started swearing at me, so I just hung up. No one should put up with that BS. So he called back and asked for my boss and I said "He out for lunch, want his voicemail?" Again he got rude then asked if there was anyone else above me and I said, "NOPE!" and hung up again. I think he got the hint that time :lol2:
So in conclusion, If you want to do business, clean up your attitiude and treat others with a little respect, and you just might get somewhere....(shocker huh?)

Welcome to the world of customer service!!
I've had people threaten to come down and kick my ass,
Call me every filthy name in the book,
Yell,
Cuss,
Lie,
Hang up (I like it when they do that)
Beg,
If there's a human emotion, I've heard it on the phone.
IT SUCKS!!!

Thats a shitty attitude to take with you. Glad to hear you hung up on this asshole. Any boss worth their salt would back you up if this moron makes an issue out of it.

See this is exacatly what I don't get. People do all of the above, and then still expect to get their way????? When I first starting doing the phones (and thank God it's only an hour a day unless the receptionist has a day off) I got pretty worked up the first few times people did that to me. At first I thought it was me, then I had to realize, no, its not. People are just @$$Holes. Now when I get nasty callers, I take great joy in making sure they don't get their way  Sometimes depending on the situation I play with them a little bit....another caller was refusing voicemail and I kept telling him that was the only way his message was going thru....(we don't write messages here) he said "You sound like a @@##$&ing recording!!!" My reply was, "What? Recording? Why didn't you say you wanted to hear one? Not CD quality but it's the best I can do..." and I threw him into voicemail
Yogs, my boss is very cool. He said to NEVER tolerate any abuse. We can hang up on them or tell them to go elsewhere (meaning another business not to hell :lol2: ).

When they get nasty with me, I envision the caller as my ex-wife, because she used to be exactly the way you describe when she didn't get her way NOW! So, needless to say, I take great pleasure in being overly sarcastically nice to the a$$holes, and they never get their way with me!!:flipa:
