V6 Camaros no threat

just thought i'd let you know that if some dumb friend thinks his car is faster than yours cuz you have a honda with a 4 banger and he has a v6 domestic, he doesn't know squat. my friend continued his dumb thinking even though his was freaking automatic. 6 out of 7 times he got killed. i think he learned. :-D

ummm buddy, wat year is his camaro? and are you a stick shft? the old V6 was like 125hp, so it doesnt take any brains to figure out that a prelude is faster. a new V6 is 225 and 240 lb ft of torque, i doubt a prelude would beat that.

actually the newer camaros have 200hp 225tq and at over 3300lbs, the prelude (vtec atleast) should be able to beat it (atleast i have)

Um guys... My friend's fairly stock Civic EX is about dead even with a late model manual V6 Camaro. Maybe even a hair faster. Their performance is about as lively as a Ford SUV. The only thing Preluders need to watch out for are the current model Z28's. Older models (Camaro, or alot of other stock oldschool pony/muscle car) should pose no problem at all, especially for an h22a Prelude. Hell, even a Shelby GT500 Cobra with a 428 block is only capable of a 15 second quarter run. Big engines don't always equate to big performance.

Way to show him that Hondas can spank, too, by the way. What happened on the 7th run, felt sorry?

ummm... since when do the v6's have 6 speed trannys? and it's camAro. not camEro. i may own a honda but CamAros were my first love. The honda just has to deal with it.

Yeah the power to weight ratio on a vtec prelude is way better than a V6 camaro, they're no problem. Oddly enough, I was following a 4th gen Z28, who was following my friend in his S4. He tried to pass my friend and obviously came no where near doing it, but I was on his ass the whole time, he couldn't pull away. Either stock V8's have nothing over 80 MPH, or the kid just couldn't drive.

Even the non-vtec prelude would beat it, actually.

lol, so obviously, v6 camaros are crap, next topic :D oh, the older pony ones definately don't pose a threat, even the V8s, although an SS did whoop my ass

The newer SS camaros are pretty fast. I HIGHLY doubt I'd have a problem with the V6 ones, though. For reference...stock, my 86 300ZX turbo is about as fast as a stock 5th gen Prelude. Why the Nissan guys decided to ship these cars out running a whopping 4-5 psi is beyond me. Boost controller will be here mon or tues.

My friend has an anniversary edition SS convertable. Damn nice car. He got SPANKED by this all motor Civic running 10s....that thing was sick. Saw it at car gatherings a few times. Heard it makes power till 10,500 RPM. Who needs low end torque when you can rev to the damned moon? :p

Quick question: I'd love to get a prelude as a daily driver and I was wondering if any year is better than any other for whatever reason. I'm thinkin a white or black 5th gen with that auto-stick thing...kinda like that thing. It's not going to be used for hard core driving or anything and I'm probably going to keep it stock.

4th gen.... thats the best gen of prelude.

when I had my 95 civic I used to beat my buddy's 96 v6 mustang all the time, and I had the SOHC vtec

I used to whoop up on a V6 shitstain...er...sorry...mustang that a guy I knew had on a regular basis. He had an exhaust system and ECU upgrade and he still couldn't keep up with me...and this was in my old 2+2 300ZX. It was really funny. His shiny new mustang couldn't keep up with my damn near 20 yr old 300ZX 2+2...the slug of the Z car family...I'd friggin mutilate him in my current Z...
