Ok so I decided this week that I either want to save up for a full size truck or a bike. Someone I know has a bike that he said i could have for 5500. My parents say i cant afford it. No shit i cant afford it...thats why im gonna save for it. then they say i cant afford insurance. They say as long as I am living in their house I cant have the bike. This sucks. I also am planning on moving out at the end of next summer. I dont know what to do. They will let me buy a full size but not a bike? wtf is that?

Well, if you're already planning to move out, that will give you time to get more money together to get a bike regardless, when you move out. Granted it might not be your friend's bike, but that's not to say that it won't be a good bike. You may not have what you want sooner, but you'll still end up getting it, and it might even turn out better than you expected.
So, wait it out, scrimp and save, move out, get the bike. That way, you respect your parents' wishes and get a bike later on as well.

Living on your own is not cheap, but you can pretty much do what you want. Having bike is more dangerous then a truck. I think your folks are just looking out for your own good.
Something to keep in mind is that all parents were someone elses kid many years ago and had the exact same complaints. So, either your parents are taking vindictive revenge for their mistreatment (not likely) or they may realize their parents had some idea of what they were doing. You'll be there yourself someday.

^ yeah, I'd probably be worried about a fast bike like a crotch rocket if I were a parent. and with good reason. some of those bikes are fast as all hell.

i just want everyone to know this too..and my parents already know this. i am a responsible person and i will never to stupid stunts on a bike. this bike is merely for cruising around on.

And one more time, it's probably your parent worrying about you. You may be the safest driver in the world, but a bike puts you at greater risks. I've been t-boned once and rear ended twice in my work van. Both were not my fault, but you can't control other people's actions. Just be glad you have parents who are showing some concern for you.

Man, that sucks. But be happy. My dad said "You can have a crotch rocket, it's ur money spend it how you want". I start buying want ad weekly's. and auto traders, and he says "Why are you buying those magazines" I told him "im gettin a bike remember?" and he says "The HELL YOU ARE, I never said you could get a bike" parents suck, i am paying off my nove (4 grand that i owe my dad) after i already put 800 bucks in the thing, my dad says "why do you wanna pay it off so fast" and i say "so when i move out i can take it with me" he says "if you try to take that car, ill just report it stolen"... my dads gay, at least your parents stick to thier guns...
