Hey guys, i have 1990 celica gts and i attempted to swap a jdm 3sgt turbo motor. I have circled through about 5 garages now and my car is at the point where it starts, still some wiring glitches, the motor doesn't seem to be calibrated properly. As for the tranny i stayed with the original 5sgt 5 speed from the original non-turbo motor in the car. However the reverse gear does not work. IF anybody can offer some advice or where to go from here it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What you need to do first of all is get a better transmition, it is only a matter of time before your transmtion gives out with the extra power the 3sgte is pumping. I reccomend using the turbo mr2 tranmtion or the v6 camry transmition (5spd) these transmition will deffenetly handle the extra power. The wiring problems i have no idea.
I do have aquestion. I want to do the swap on my car (1990 celica gts). How much did it cost you for everything? Oh and is your car fast? how does it feel when you drive? What is the fastest you have gotten it up to?

Well i got a hold of the motor and the tranny and the computer for close to 1400 canadian. and i paid 300 for the exhaust. TO be totally honest i haven't had a chance to even drive the car yet, and as i mentioned the motor isn't working well right now, i'm sure its some sensor problems or something of that sort, but i do need someone who seriously knows what there dealing with to fix the wiring on my car, so any suggestions would be great
thanks

you need a better mechanic... i had a ford mechanic do my swap lol and it worked. ok, your stock gts tranny will work for it, DO NOT WASTE MONEY BY BUYING A MR2 TRANNY! they are midengined cars, will not work. ok, if you switch trannies get a v6 camry 5 speed. your wiring is probably not spliced right, i had to extend mine 40 inches, but there is also a place you can ship your wiring harness 2, and they will extend it for you in 2 weeks, i didn't choose that option, but you could.
my parts cost and list
2100 with shipping for a jdm 2nd gen 3sgte with tranny, ecu, clutch, flywheel.
had to pretty much frankenstein my clutch assembly.
37$ for a custom cone filter 2 3/4 inlet, 5 inches around, 5 and a half long
several vaccuum hoses 90 bucksish
hood scoop 50 bucks (ebay)
new radiator fan (stock one is 2 wide ify) 110 dollars
wiring harness extension (free did it myself)
several other small parts had to be ordered
paid 500 for the installation of everything, and swap
