Must have Clutch!!

The title says it all, if there is a GT4, or any other driving simulator, I demand a peddle set with a clutch and gearshift!!!!!! Its great to have a wheel and peddle set, but for god sakes people! If you are going to make a realistic game, how are you supposed to drive these cars to their full potential without a clutch!? I mean, it would be soo much easier to launch with no TCS if you could slip the clutch a little, you could use heel and toe shifting (Although it kinda looks like the computer does that for you in GT3) But still, it would just add that touch that makes it great! Is any one with me on this one?

hahaa..yah
my friend and i were talking about how L1 is kinda useless b/c you have a mirror anyways to look back so you could use L1 as clutch, and hold it in then then press L2/R2 to shift

as for the wheel, a gearbox is hard b/c different cars have different amount of gears
e.g. civic would only have 5 gears, gt-one has 6

how many gears would the gearbox have

i think its a cool idea, but it'll be hard to make

Just make it with six, and if the car has a 5 speed, then puttin it in 6th will do nothing. Kinda like when I try to put my friend's truck into 6th when it's a 5 speed 'cause I'm used to a 6 speed. It just won't go :D

I also think that they should add a clutch. I mean if it is "the real driving simulator" then you have to have a clutch. If they do it correctly it might even help me learn how to drive one in real life. :p

Yea man, only if they do it well. I mean good enough that if you can't drive a stick IRL and you try it, you will kill the car, or if there is no way to start the car, just make it stay in neutral if you would have killed it.

For those of us who don't buy the racing wheel, they should change the buttons around like NSX said. They could make the button to look back L3.

Would they also need a neutral?

L3?

i think they should have a neutral too
this way, when you rev it all the way to redline, you don't automatically jump off with a perfect start

you actually have to press R2 to shift into first gear

Yeah the analog joysticks can be used as buttons. Just push in on them.

if they are adding a clutch, add some realistic damage as well!

hahaa

tha'ts hard...b/c they have to factor in the drop in performance due to the damage

unless its like project gotham, it only looks like there's damage on the outside but it doesn't hurt your performance

Well, then they should stop claiming to be the most realistic driving simulator :)

Yes, there are legal issues with having damage to cars. The game maker has to get it licenced by the car manufacturer and most car makers don't like having their cars all wrecked in videogames. Thats the reason most games don't have damage because its such a hassle to get the auto makers permission.

other option is do like San Francisco rush and make replica cars and name them something else but I like the idea of buying an exact copy of a skyline or something. I just wish the car companys would give in and let let there be alittle damage.

so Microsoft got permission from Ferrari and BMW in order for the Mini Cooper and F50 to be dented?
