Upgraded ECU

I swapped out my OBD2 to a OBD1 today and when I purchased the ECU (P13 Jun Mapped) it says rev limit is 9600. Does that mean I can safely go that high? If not, how high will I be able to go? If I wanted to go that high, what engine upgrades do I need to make it withstand that high rpm?

What Engine do you have? What year, Miles, and I don't think you will have usable power after about 8000 rpm NA (Naturally Aspirated) engine.

If I was going to go to 9600RPM I would like to have good rods and maybe some really close tolerances like blue printing for less movement of reciprocating parts.

food for thought.

the redline is 7400 stock. it just has basic mods: exhaust, intake, header, pulley kit, racing cat.

Yeah in that case you really don't need to take it passed 8000 . Phunyguy said not pass 75 he may know because he had an A4.

I take my A1 to 8000 all day everyday. But with my set up it pulls clean to 8000 without falling on its face.

It has been passed 8000 many times because I don't have a rev limiter. It is stock bottom end. \

hope that helps.

JUN chip blows, I have one in my p13. Mugen, Spoon, and most other unspecific EPROM chips blow as well. Please search for details as to why.

SGTII, h22a1, h22a4, and non-S h22a are all the same blocks that can do the same amount of maximum revs. It is safe to go as far as ~7600 with frequency. You can take it higher, but the risk of a rod punching a hole through the chamber increases with every RPM you go.

No. Stay OBD1, just get rid of that JUN chip.

Stock p13 is good too, until you get more support mods in there. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon14.gif
