front end vibration

I just purchased a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4 with 77,000 miles. It had 2 owners and is in great shape. I just replaced the upper and lower ball joints and had the tires rotated and aligned. It has Goodyear Wrangler AT's on it with lots of tread left. I still have a strong vibration however whenever I accelerate from about 10-40 mph. The whole steering wheel shakes. And if I hit a hard bump during this time, the whole truck shakes. Riding on the highway at 70 is like riding on glass (no shakes) and de-accerating doesn't seem to be a problem. It is only upon acceleration. Can anyone give me some help? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I think it's the tires!

My 1990 Ranger did that. A couple weeks later my dad took it out and he had a blowout of the front left tire. It was a bad bad wreck, he broke his neck, but in a good spot and is ok now.
