Today I jacked up my car from the front to rotate the tires and Something weird happened. I put on the E-brake and then stuck it in 1st gear before even lifting it up. Once all said and done, I went to to unscrew one of the lugnuts and the wheel is moving. I went back to make sure I was in first gear and it still was. So went to the opposite wheel, give it a twirl and it's moving. So I put the car in second, it still does it. Same goes for 3,4, and reverse. And when I spin the wheel, the opposite wheel goes in the opposite direction. One is spinning clockwise, while the other is spinning counter-clockwise.

I know you put the car in gear to lock the front wheels, but every gear I tryed, the front wheels kept moving. What the Crap is going on? Does anyone know?

putting the car in gear will not lock up the front wheels. it will do what you say its doing with one spinning each way. The reason you are thinking it does lock up the wheels is cause when its on the ground it wont move while in gear, thats because one wheel wants to go one way while the other wants to go the oppisite.

TIP - break loose the lugnuts before you jack up the car. that way you dont hav eto try to break them free when the car is in the air and nothing will stop it from moving cept someone in the car holding hte brakes

I'm so sorry, I totally forgot about that. I've been working all day, I was out of it when I got home. And yeah your right, I should have lifted one side of the car instead lifting the middle and having the whole front end up. Thanks GTA. And again, I'm sorry I posted this thread!

Well, not to put a good thread to waste, I'll just post my question in here than. If that's alright with u guys.

The problem I've been happening lately is about the brakes. Whenever I hit the brake pedal, I mean at any speed, the steering wheel shakes violentely. It get so annoying when I'm going 80 and hit the brakes, it just rattles back and forth. It almost feels as if the front wheels are doing it. Can any one help me here? I've noticed it's getting worse every month.

Sounds like warped rotors.

Sounds like warped rotors.

That's what I was thinking too, but just wasn't sure. Also, I'm guessing it's not good to have a ton of lines on my rotors? Cause I mean there are tons of them, little and big. And what does good quality rotors go for a pair? I rather not get any top dollar rotors. Trying to save a little money.

on honda's you should rotate front to back, so only jack up one side at a time. or use an impact wrench.

get the brembo blanks, oem replacments they are like 20 something bucks a piece from tirerack.com... and it does def. sound like its time for new rotors

I had to bump this thread cause of a problem thats been rising. After putting my raybestsos PGplus rotors on about 4 weeks ago, I'm experiencing the warped feeling again. It's not as bad as it was before but it's back again. I'm a little stumped as to why though.

On both my rotors, looking at them, you can see where only some of the pad has rubbed away the polish but then there are lines where it hasn't. It's like there are circles in circles on there where the rotor has spun. Could my pads from my warped rotors been unevenly used and thus making only parts of the pad hit my rotors?

Also, the right rotor is showing signs of a blackish greasy material being spun around in circles on the rotor where it spins. It makes circles in circles of it on there. Is there something wrong with my caliper?

Please help. :banghead:

change pads, and check your calipers to see if there leaking.

Damn, I just put new pads on last year. That sucks.

Are there seals or such on the caliper where it could leak or is there something I can't see?

TheSilentChamber

theres seals behind the inner pads, its the thing you pushed back into the caliper when you changed them. It can leak around them. If its leaking you can either rebuild it or buy some more and use those as cores. Or you can do what I'm doing and go big brake upgrade with new big rotors and sir calipers :)

where can you find big rotors for our cars?

I'v aquired some 11.1" rotors (prelude) that I'm going to redrill then use SiR calipers (same as accord wagon... even has the same honda part number), have to use lx hubs and redo the bracket a little. Have to run atleast a 15" rim with that setup. Also going to upgrade to 11" booster and 1" master cylinder.

There is another upgrade that is like 10" thats bolt on, no modifying, I'll find the link if your intested.

AEM makes a big break upgrade but its expensive ($600 I think). Baer makes a badass big brake upgrade, but its up in the thousands.

alrighty then.

90's tegs u can use to upgrade. the rotors are a bit bigger, not by a huge amount but they are bigger.

shaguar, sure ur calipers arent seized?? my driver side is and it shakes like a bitch when i brake at high speeds. low speeds its fine tho. i'm upgrading to a complete front to back integra breaking system on my car however. should be fun! :)

I think a wheel bearing would cause that wouldnt it.
I know on the old beater i had it did that and i put a new wheel bearing in and it stopped..Tell me what you all think..That would be my suggestion..dont really know tough..later

whenever u put new rotors on, u put new pads on. that way everything wears even.

rushb18: yeah u'r right in a sense. if the rotors get warped enough and left like that for a while they can kill u'r wheel bearings.

so definitely sumthin to check if u've had the prob for a while. w/ the wheel lifted off the ground, grip the top and bottom, while it's still bolted on, and try shaking it in and out. if it wobbles, then the wheel bearings need replaced too.

I agree with rush it sounds like a wheel bearing to me
