I know everybody has seen this question before, but I'm really in a bind. I absolutely love and respect all types of motorcycles, sport bikes being my favorite. I plan on getting a bike in the near future, but don't know exactly which one to get. First off, I am not going to start with a 250, because I've driven a Ninja 250 once and was bored with it after day one. I've been planning on getting a CBR 600, and was almost sure I would get one. However, I am currently being offered a very cheap '97 gsxr 750. I never planned on starting with a 750, in fact it never crossed my mind. However, with the current amazing offer in place, I think it'd be almost idiotic not to take it. If i do buy it, I will keep it, as I don't have the resources to buy it and sell it. My question is, if I'm extremely safe (no stunts, high speeds, or exhilerating driving), could I start off on the gsxr 750? (Note*mostly highway driving will need a heavier bike anyways)

lol. If you're mind is set on it, there's nothing anyone can say here would convince you otherwise. However, if you're looking for advice and are open-minded, please look at the topics that are labelled "Important" in this section.

Here's one:

Anyway, if this is your first bike, starting on the 750 is not the wisest decision. If you've operated dirtbikes before, it still isn't the best bet. If you had the experience with that 250 for quite some time, then I'd ponder...

dude. i had 18 months on a 250 (below left) and upgraded to a 96 750t (below right) and it scared the shit out of me daily. They are a hooligan tool. not a realy good decision unless you know that you can handle the power. i test rode 600's and was bored so i bought the 750. they can be unpredictable and need to be wrestled with when going hard at it. great track bike but not so great on the daily street side of things. don't forget that back then they were suzuki's best sport bike

Not to jump on the band wagon, but which year of cbr600? You had previous experiences with motorcycles or dirtbikes?
