Hesitation when Accelerating

Hello All,
My 1993 740i has a hesitation when first starting to accelerate. The car runs and idles fine otherwise.
When starting from a stop and gradually pressing the accelerator, things start off well. Then the power cuts for a milisecond and the power dips, but almost immediately catches back up and now you are going a little faster than you had intended because it kind of "whips" you up to where your foot is now positioned.
Also, at that same spot in the pedal, there is some obvious hesitation in the engine.
Again, the car runs great otherwise.
Thanks for your help with this!

this too 'sounds' like a lean condition. It'd be helpful if you could list the parts replaced when the crank. ctrl. valve was replaced. Also, a lean condition should've set an O2 sensor fault like the vent valve should have. Has it ???........chat soon....................................jeff b.

Hola,
Currently there is no CEL, so no codes. I am sorry I don't have more info other than that.

Okay, I might have a little something extra to help diagnose. This car is my spouses and I seldom drive it. However I took it for a drive tonight and was a little more analytical in my observations.
It seems like that "hesitation" that I notice occurs at the first shift point. From a stop the car reaches about 1500 RPM (almost 20mph) when it shiifts into the next gear. I believe it is then that this dip occurs.
Does that make things clearer or more confusing?
:)

homminna, homminna....sorry, I think that helps. It still 'sounds' like a slight lean condition that these earlier DME's didn't really pick-up. Before we go further I need to refer to a couple of posts ago and really need to know exactly what was replaced during the last repair if you could. thnks...jeff b.

Thanks Jeff. The rear cover was replaced. Also, this was around before that became a problem, and exists after it was fixed. I actually thought after your diagnosis that this would go away too, and was surprised that it didn't.
Don't beat yourself up over it to figure it out. I appreciate what you have already done for me and while this is a minor thing, it doesn't affect the driving of a car with 112,000 miles.
