i love people who say o yea well check this out and show a badass car that has been HEAVILY modified.....HMMMM you can make any car do that so i guess that means you like every single car ever made in the world???? FUCK NO, i would not take that ugly as stang...actually i would take it and sell it peice by peice. So i could have a nice enjoyable (to my standards) car that doesnt look like the diareahha i just flushed. So just because it goes 200mhp your saying you would take it whahhhaahaha you dont like cars you just want the image of power. im sorry but to me you lose. I would rather have a mini van. I do respect the amount of time and effort put into the car but for you just to bring it up and brag about it and be like "tell me you wouldnt take that" well thats just.......lame........

actually the new nissan truck 5.6 motor makes more power and torque then the DOHC cobra motor/Mach1........ so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
and plus even a sr swap stock should beat 5.0 mustangs...take on 4.6's and with a few bolt ons and a boost controller will beat the tar out of them.
its not hard to run in the 13's with a 240sx... its not hard to run in the 12's either just takes a bit more money..same can be said for 11's, 10's.. and yes I think one day we will have 9 second KA-T 240sx's....its just a matter of someone building the car properly with the parts already availble.
Ford power my ass... everytime they dyno mustangs.. I've seen 3 different ones, a 95 5.0 and some 4.6 ones on HORSEPOWER TV, they always take a baseline before adding mods..which is great... only thing is those mustangs baseline at about 165rwhp....
a STOCK sr20 baselines at aroung 165rwhp also... light s13 with same power as a heavier Mustang GT....you decide which one is going to win that one LOL.
One day I was test driving an automatic 4.6 GT stang after doing the transmission on it(another thing fords suck at) sat parpindicular to the road, locked the wheel to the left... stabbed the throttle pedal... and a pathetic lil chirp with no oversteer... how emberassing...
and all these mustang faggets are always saying they have this great torque of a v8 and its so fast.... BULLSHIT go drive a mustang and honestly tell me that compared to other cars. Camaros will blow their doors off. Vettes don't even waiste the gas, and a stock rps13 will hang with them lol. Lets mention some other 4 cylinders that could ruin a mustang fagget's day........ SRT-4, MR2 Turbo, EVO, WRX, WRX STi, and a s2000 will give it a run for the money.

The mustang tranny is weak as shit, very light duty.. same transmission in crown viccie/light trucks etc..
then there is the heavy duty e4od which is EXPENSIVE as shit to rebuild and likes to go out on a regular basis..
then there is the Explorer transmission, putting me through college and food on my plate, EVERY single Explorer will have atleast one blown transmission throughout its life, factory defect.
then there is the Taurus transmission, also putting me through college and food on my plate, every single Taurus transmission blows up atleast once, factory defect...

V8 in a 240? Fuck a V8. Didn't you ever hear the saying "Displacement is the least efficient and effective way of increasing power,"? A guy on here has it in his signature. Stick with Nissan car engines. CA, SR, KA, RB. They will all make plenty of power while still allowing the car to handle like a dream.

why is displacement the least efficient and effective way of increasing power? Not that I really like American cars, but no import has 405 hp stock, yet corvette z06 does. also on the drag strip American cars are usually faster fully built up, a drag strip near me a stang got 7 flat (700 ci engine), corvette made out of fiberglass got 6 secs. What is the fastest import that you heard of in the 1/4 mile?

ive personally seen some 6-8 second civics... full drag cars obviously... the point is, displacement is not the only way to make power, its the best way to make power without forced induction...
its all preference, i would rather a low displacement turbo motor rather than a big v8...
in the end who really gives a crap?

there is a 1300 hp 2jz that runs some mad 1/4 mile but look at displacement then look at hp. I'm building a 400 hp 2.0L. that 405hp z06 of yours is a 7.0L so do the math. efficeintcy is hp/L so mine will be 200hp per liter. While that z06 is 58hp per liter. that is efficientcy. and that 700ci engine is like 11 liters or something. well there you go.

Most of the imports in the Sport Compact league in NHRA run 7s. A street legal, full interior supra ran 9.70s in Sport Compact Car. Make the body out of fiberglass and give it a sequential gearbox or powerglide like most of the domestics run and it will run 7s. Efficient=horsepower to cubic inch. 405hp corvette runs you somewhere around $60k and you make 1.157hp per cubic inch. A supratt will run you around 20-30k used with pretty low miles and makes 1.74hp per cubic inch. Just for reference a supra engine is 183cubic inches.
I will agree that large displacement engines are usually faster when fully built. There still is no replacement for displacement.

adding displacement is the only effective way of increasing power LOL... what do you think superchargers and turbos are? all they do is compress air,, tune with more fuel... so it makes more power.. same basic thing as adding more displacement when you really think about it.
and no I wouldn't rather have a tuned small displacement turbo motor.. Id rather have a large displacement tuned turbo motor HAHA...
in reality I would much rather have a lightly tuned big displacement N/A motor... Chevy 427 has an awesome short stroke too... A 427 with a slight cam change, fuel injection, headers, straight through mufflers, ported heads, and a decent intake manifold is going to be way more reliable then a highly tuned small displacement turbo motor, and will still put out more power...
flame me if you want, but damn near 500 ftlbs of torque from the factory is fucking awesome, what are we against going faster now?
and domestics blow the fucking doors off import racers... When you hear about an import motor running in the 4's all day consistently..call me up.
the only reason why I like import cars is generally their chassis and suspension is superior to domestic crap...
v8 naturally aspirated in a 240sx? badass fucking ride IMHO.. with torque and throttle response no turbo nissan 4 cylinder will ever have..
hey if you don't like american products, get the new 5.6 Titan motor and swap that into a 240sx... easy mid-high 12's with good traction and a stock motor....and that will beat 95% of the cars you see on the road on a regular basis.

who cares about efficiency, I just want raw speed, and any means to obtain it. Sure supras have more cubic per hp efficiency, but who cares. ls6 gets 405 hp right off the bat, stock. And you can work with that engine easily, and since it's n/a just slap on a supercharger and get another 100-200 hp. And you are comparing a used supra price to a new corvette z06, now if you compare a new supra to a new corvette, the corvette would be a much better value. Now I'm not trying to argue domestics are better, because I just don't like them for the same reasons sr20detpower stated, their suspensions and chassis suck. I like control, I like handling, and american cars don't offer that as well as imports do, but there really isn't any replacement for displacement. I want to try driving a vette once though, that car seems to be the exception in terms of handling, it gets a full G on the skidpad.

well yea a 5.6 nissan V8 motor will make more HP than a 5.4 its slightly bigger and there is ton more room to add more shiny parts in there without having space issues. If i was that guy who did the V8 engine swap into the 240... i would reather do chevy 350 instead, its a 5.7 reather than a 5.0 With a 350 engine in a 240 you will smoke anything out there because the 240s are so light and if you tweak the 350 right it will kill. BULLLLLL SHIIITTT, A new vette retails for around 45-50K and the ZO6 55K, and secondly, the price you are going to pay to get your Supra to 800hp is going to be far more than I would spend on a vette TT. Who here has ever had of a 5.7L 541Hp T-Ram, Naturally Aspirated, try that with a Supra. Listen we've been going back and forth on this damn topic, and like I said, THERE IS NO FREAKING REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT" call it cheap HP if you want but, go putt a TT on a Race built supra and do the same to race built 5.0 and see the diff. Kings of the 1/4 m are Domestics, and for once I agree with SR20.

all these V8 lover make it seem like its so wonderful to see one run 7s(on 113 octane) well yeah its, its twice the size of a 240sx,EVO,and STI engine but its not comon to see a Evo6 with a 2.4L 4 banger turbo pushing 930HP/850ft-lbs :screwy: on the same fuel. ture it did cost them 149Gs to get it to run that but its hot to think about it.BTW it runs 9s because their isnt a tranny strong enugh to hold 930 for a 4 cylinder. PLUS most of us will never get to sit behind that much power and if you do i dont trust you would use it wizely. OH yeah the EVO is STREET LEGAL!!!! you wont find a V8 doing those times and still be street legal. :disappoin

i used to work at a gas station and my manager's friend would come by once in a while with his white Camaro SS. He'd talk about how much horses it was pushing... etc, etc....That thing was LOUD as fuk... anyway, after a few months i saw his camaro on a flatbed truck. The front end was completely smashed... WTF! turns out he was speeding into a corner... tried to brake and turn... obviously with such a heavy front (one could say it was due to the large displacement), sh!tty brakes / suspension... it couldn't turn. you can assume what happen after that...
Overall balance is more important than displacement... (the ol' american saying "bigger is better" isn't ALWAYS the way to go) of course some 'things' are truly better when bigger~ muahaha

and import with a 5.slow theres one up with a 350 in it and theres and old rx7 with a 400 small block you think chevy power sucks go fuck a monkey. il admit the old fastbacks and the new cobras do have strong points but put a supercharger on a ls1 and it would kill a cobra.

They are decent as far as the automatics. They shift very slowly though, and don't transfer power well. I have hated Fords since I can remember. I started a Chevy guy. I still am but I prefer the classics, 1970 and older. In the late 60's Chevys ruled the streets, Dodge ruled the top fuel track with the hemi, and Ford just stayed on the line burning out. They were always known to have too much torque, and not enough hp. The new mustangs are chick cars, that's all there is to say about that. Camaros need wider and more grippy tires. SS's with slicks run low 13's and I have seen one with exhaust and slicks run a 12.9. Vettes are one of my dream cars. Today I believe small cars are more practicle with the milage, light weight, small cars. Oh, my Civic beats Mustang GT's, so give the LS/Vtec Civics some credit. Also my dad put together a 69 Nova, with a 572ci Chevy crate motor with a blower, five linked the rer end and tubbed it, all for under $18,000, and ran 8's at the track. His motor produced well over 1,000hp and torque. Oh yeah, and his car was street legal in Cali. All cars are great. Just enjoying cars is all that matters.

will the tranny fit in the car,
will the tranny bolt up to the ka,
or do you have a sbc and wonder if it will fit on that?

why is displacement the least efficient and effective way of increasing power? Not that I really like American cars, but no import has 405 hp stock, yet corvette z06 does. also on the drag strip American cars are usually faster fully built up, a drag strip near me a stang got 7 flat (700 ci engine), corvette made out of fiberglass got 6 secs. What is the fastest import that you heard of in the 1/4 mile?
There is a very good reason no 'import' (you are really considering only Asian imports though in this statement forgetting all of Germany and Italy at least ;) ).
Japan has a 280PS limit on cars last time I checked, it creeps up little by little so maybe it's a little higher now. This is why with only minor mods Skylines jump majorly in power (along with other japanese makes).
There is a Skyline (I had the video but can't find it) that can smoke the Hayabusa in a 1/4 mile...I think it turns 8's on 2.6L perhaps a little bore and stroking.
I would be interested in seeing a no-holds barred Z06 vs Skyline roadrace though....somehow I think AWD is going to own though.

i have that video of the skyline, it is a 3.4 with major major work done to it. 1300hp or so. when i find it i will need someone to post it for me....
you wanna see no holds barred. find me one top fuel guy who would say a 4 cyl is faster than an 8.... you wont
the skyline is great and all but why cant they make them great and meet emissions over here ?
if you get the chance too find the "top gear" episode of the new c6 corvette. they dog this car to no end and then they race it on a track and it smokes pretty much everything i thought would have beaten it.

Again Top Fuel is 1/4 mile....aint going to do too good at the Willows.
However, don't forget the 4 cylinders revving to close to 20k rpms and about 1000HP now out of I think 2 liters maybe 3.
They could make them meet emissions spec, but the problem is there is not enough sales to warrant the cost. Most Americans will choose a cheaper z06 or go exotic. NSX, RX7, etc have all had a hard time here because American's are fixated with a V8

Remember though, that a majority of the cost of the Skyline in the US is because of the conversion to make it legal. If you didn't have to do this they would be $15000-30000 cheaper. They would sell, it's the Japanese pride that may keep them from coming over. It's a jewel over there, and virtually the best car there. Around a track the Corvette would actually have an advantage because of rwd, unless it's in wet conditions. In the Lemans series the Audi get beat until it's wet, then they dominate, otherwise the other cars have no trouble staying ahead. There is more weight with awd and the powered front wheels can actually hinder the performance in dry conditions. Look at the GT class, they are all rwd, awd just wouldn't be able to keep up.

Do you know what the MSRP is on the new skylines? If they start importing them Nissan is not going to bringing back the older series.
I am not saying I know the Skyline will absolutely dominate...but it'd be a great line up....maybe add in the non-GT 911 Turbo (996 class).
Other than that and discounting the newest Skyline these beast just look tough. R32, R33, R34...probably the toughest looking imports ever.

R34 in 1998....
Power 280 bhp / 209 KW @ 6800 rpm
Torque 392 Nm / 289 ft lbs @ 4400 rpm
what figures do you have?

well they said that Nissan underated the r34 to meet japan's gov't guidelines. It's actually somewhere around 350 hp supposedly
