Toyota 5 spd. transmission problem

I have a 1994 toyota pick up, with a 4 cyl. and 5 spd transmission. I installed new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and bushing within the last 6 months. Everyting was fine until last weekend when I was changing gears, and all of a sudden, the transmission was not moving anymore. I can move the shifter thru all the gear positions, but I don't know if there may be some internal linkage disconnect. I looked thru the hole at the throwout bearing, and everything seams to be moving in and out but couldn't see if shaft was moving. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Can you shift through the gears with the engine running, the truck stopped and the clutch pedal out?

Yes

Does the shifter "snick" into gear like normal or is it silky smooth with no resistance? If it "snicks" like it is really changing gears in the transmission, then it is most likely the pressure plate. If there is no sign of transmission shifting when you move the shifter, it is possibly a linkage problem (best possible problem). I will have to think about this some more...

It does not engage at all. The shifter moves smooth. In either case it seems like I will end up removing the transmission from the truck?

Maybe you can get at the shifter linkage from the top.

Unfortunately, I removed the cover at the shifter and do not see anything loose, or broken.

If there is nothing visible external to the transmission, it may be a broken shifter fork. Not difficult to replace once the transmission is accessible.

Thanks. I will remove the transmission this weekend and begin the disassembly. I let you know what I find.
