well i painted my valve covers today, and while i was at it i took a look at the plugs and they don't look too healthy so i'm going to get them replaced, what plugs do yall reccomend?? i was lookin at the splitfires and the bosh +4 and but i was told those were't good for turboed cars, is this true? should i just stick with the usual NGK? which NGKs are the best? also, i'm lookin to upgrade the spark plug wires, are 8.5mm the way to go? does it matter on the brand? thanks guys.

Get Magnecor KV85 8.5mm plug wires on 3si's recommendation. And get NGK plugs, either copper or platinum. Platinum will last longer and should do fine, copper are cheaper and need to be replaced every 10k (if memory serves me correct) But copper are colder and will spark better and prevent issues with spark blowout. At stock boost levels, it really doesn't matter which, but if you turn up the boost, you will need to gap platinums closer or get coppers.

Did you really just ask that question? Don't mean to offend, but did you think they only sell plugs for turbo cars at automotive stores? Of course they sell plugs for NAs. Most likely, the plugs for the NAs might be the same for a turbo. cmon now.

so are the copper ones better then the platnum ones? i know the copper ones need to be replaced more often but since it's a cooler spark is it better? as for turning up the boost, doing the free boost mod would still be considered stock boost levels right? thanks guys

i meant like the red ones used to dress up the engine, i know they sell them on many sites online but i was wondering if there was somewhere to get custom ones, i mean how the hell would i know if they had the same spark plug wires?

theres a place by me that has em, its not a chain like autozone, but its a littler place. Try a tuner shop, or something like that.

yes free boost mod does still count as stock levels, as all it does is put the 1st gen vr4s at the same boost levels as the 2nd gens

what about iridium spark plugs?

iridiums last longer, but don't work as well with the turbos on our car. They are more expensive and you will probably get spark blowout. Stick with platinum at stock boost, and copper if you get a boost controller.

why copper if I get a boost controller?

Because when you turn up the boost, you have a higher chance of getting spark blowout, coppers are a few stages colder than platinums, so they will prevent sparkblowout.

What boost levels are we talking about here? And what is stock on the first and second gens?

stock for 1st gen is 9psi
stock for 2nd gen is 12psi
when I get a boost controller I'll run it at 14 psi. at that level, should I get copper or plat plugs?
What do I need to do to safely run higher psi ? do I have to upgrade turbos? or do something else?
