I have a c-3500, 1996, manual trans, vortec 5.7. today at a traffic light, it simply stopped running. it's getting spark from the ignition system. seems it's not getting fuel. all wires seem to be O.K.,fuses seem O.K., Could it be the fuel pump? How do I test it to confirm the fuel pump is the problem?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Bypass the relay in your underhood fuse box and see if you can get it to run using a jumper wire. Get a fuel pressure tester to confirm output. Are you sure that your getting adequate spark? Do you have the original cap and rotor? I would check them for severe wear. I found mine was bad when I bought my truck at 147,000miles. Check out my super long info post about my 5.7L/Auto in my 96 Z71 K1500. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=267196 I believe the info here is common to all 96-98 GM trucks with the Vortec motors.
