A former Democratic senator who lost three of his limbs during the Vietnam War plans to deliver a letter of protest to President Bush Wednesday, asking him to denounce political advertisements questioning John Kerry's war record.
Max Cleland will be joined on his trip to President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas by a soldier, Jim Rassmann, rescued by Mr. Kerry during the Vietnam conflict.
The visit comes amid a continuing controversy over the ads sponsored by a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. President Bush has stopped short of condemning the specific ads.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for President Bush's re-election campaign, Benjamin Ginsberg, has resigned after acknowledging he provided legal advice to the Swift Boat group, saying his representation has become "a distraction."
The Kerry campaign has filed a formal complaint against the Bush campaign for illegal links to the group, an accusation the Bush administration denies.

He doesn't want Bush denouncing all the 527 groups - moveon.org has a couple hundred million in support for him. He just wants Bush to renounce the ones that don't support him.

One would think that denounceing all 527 groups would be more powerful than just denouncing one commercial

Somehow part of my topic didn't get posted!
I put this link in here too.

Its a link to Kerry's own web site which is dated April 2004 and all it does is bash Bush.
I heard Bush has denounced all 527 ads or something to that nature.

I think it's a disgrace that both sides cannot discuss the current issues, instead of rehashing decisions and events that occured 30 years ago.
Can anyone honestly say they are the same person as they were 30 years ago?
Finally, how shallow is the American public, that they can allow themselves be so easily distracted........no wait.......what was the voter turnout in the last election? (sigh)

Ya it is too bad that they have to bring up 30 year old topics. However if one side brings something up the other side has got to tear it down. That's the nature of the political beast.

It might be interesting to see what they are going to do about things that are happening now. I don't know...just a thought.
