our generation transmissions are good, its the 2g transmissions that are the ones that aren't so reliable

hey gottie....you might as well go ahead and buy you a new clutch, cause yours isnt gonna last long. anyway, i havent heard that many good things about our transmissions. i know mine is a piece of crap but i dont have the $6000 to rebuild or get a new one. other than that, i havent heard of many other problems with our cars. since the 3g eclipse is only 4 years old, not too many people have more than 100,000 miles on their car yet.

what do you mean its a piece of crap? do you need a new one?? is your car a 2003? how many miles do you have on it.

yeah my car is a 2003. its got 30,000 miles on it. i grind going into second gear all the time. shifting is awful. sometimes when i get into my car, im not able to shift into reverse. i have to shift into 3rd then shift into reverse. and from what ive heard, many other owners of 5spd eclipses have this same problem. so i know its not just me.

so would you say it is worth it to do a tranny swap from a auto to a man. for rs models if a super is involved?

eclipsed4u, my clutch is fine, i never grind going into any gears or anything....and how the fuck would it be 6 grand to replace a clutch or transmission

go to a local transmission shop and ask them how much they would charge to rebuild your transmission. it is very pricey.
yeah i know that the transmission fluid helps out and im in the process of getting some.
your clutch might be fine now, but it wont be in a few months if you keep dropping the clutch like that. alot of eclipses have hasd to get a new clutch after just 15,000 miles and that was just regular driving , not abusing it.

My clutch went out at 32000 miles. The mechanic at mitsu by me said that they are only built to last 36000. The stock clutch is Trash. Also, the rotors are awefull. Dont get me wrong I love my car, but I really think that they underengineered the cars.

no my cars not giving me problems. the engine is fine. its just that some of the parts should have been of better quality when it was built by mitsubishi
