T-tops or Convertible

i'm planning on buying a fourth gen, but i'm planning to really mod it, would it be better to go for a t-top or convertible or hard top, i know having t-tops or convertible weakens your car but i really want atleast a t-top, would subframe connectors strengthen the car like a hard top or not.

t tops, youll loose stability with the vert. but i recomend some sub frame connectors for the t top car.

t-tops, no need to debate. just get em, you'll understand when you have them...

No my RS is a hard top, but i just put a lt1 with a t56, it's funny alot of people don't expect a third gen been that powerfull, the lt1 is stock but i'm saving to do some mods as soon as save up some $$$$$

t-top cars are lighter, stiffer, and in my opinion the convertable cars are ugly as sin. i dont know about the t-tops being as rigid as a steel roof, but with the connectors it wont matter...

how much would a 4th gen t-top go for ?

Chevyracincamaro
08-25-2004, 06:32 PM
depends on the model, year, and miles. ive seen 94 z28s with <100K miles go for 3 to 7 thousand. the LS1 z28s and SS models get up above 10K...

how many miles is is too much? i know people beat the shit out of camaros

Chevyracincamaro

ive seen em last up to 250k, and heard of cars with more. they hold up mechanically very well, and ofcourse i always like to try and buy cars with less than 10k miles...

Its got to be t-tops. I think covertibles are for girls. My SS has t-tops, and they are awesome.

I will take my ugly as sin gurly car and show either of you run for your money any day of the week!!! Just let me know when your ready to drive to Houston!!!

If you want a Conv. and to mod it out the frame will hold up... You will need sub frame connectors, and a wolf 6 point roll cage for a Conv. I have seen many Conv. Z's in the 9s and have had mine in the 10s with no problems...

im not saying that the verts are slow, or cant be fast, but i know for a fact they are heavier. i personally think they dont look as good, especially the four and a half gens. to me, they look too much like sebrings with the top down...

you can't fit wheels wider than 9'' on the rear of a 4th gen convertable camaro... go with t-tops or hard top. here is a good deal i found on a 35th anaversary hard top Z28... $11,000: http://www.craigslist.org/sfc/car/40514899.html

I would definately go with the t-tops and subframe connectors. My 3rd gen has stress cracks and it doesnt have t-tops. The subframe connectors stopped that problem.
Or u could buy a hardtop and have a sunroof installed.

I got a hard top 'cause I know I'm too lazy for T-Tops and didn't want the weight and extra track rules of the convertible. If it was my leisure car and I wasn't my goal to race, I'd consider the vert a great option. Maybe you see girls in verts because they like verts. Lucky for the guy who has the vert - he will attract more chicks! The rest of us are stuck with the stigma of juvenile delinquent white trash. :icon16:

WRONG!!! I fit a set of Z06 18 X 11 on the rear of my Conv...

zo6 wheels are 18x10.5 and even when I put them on my '99 (with t-tops) it still took some customizing. I had to cut off that orange bracket from down there and hammer in the inside of the fenders quite a bit.... but you slipped 18x11's right on??... what year convertable??

always buy the right offset rim for your car and you will not have a problem... i never said I did or didn't do some customizing... i never hammered anything just rolled the lip of the fender well... but again they will fit... the car in question is in the sig...

do your rims stick out past the fender? the Z06 wheels i have are the stock back spacing for a '03 Zo6 vette. they fit completely inside the fenders without rolling them. the reason I questioned you was because everywhere I looked for these rims said that they would not fit on a converatble.
