General Overheating question

I see that a lot of people have overheating problems and I have one too. The thing is that in the city no matter how long I drive or if it's stop and go traffic, the dashboard temp. guage registers as normal. But when I'm on the freeway for more than 15 miles, the temperature does go up. I've never actually had it overheat, but am scared that it'll happen.

Does the fact that it only heats up at high speeds (70 mph +) indicate that there's something specific wrong with the car or is it still hard to determine what's wrong? I don't know much about cars and this problem seems to have come out of nowhere. Thanks for any help.

usually my car cools down on the interstate. is there something wrong with your body (car body that is sick bastard, jk)? there could be something blocking your air flow to your engine.

My 1989 Nissan 300zx is in fact not a Turbo model. And it has no body damage. I don't understand why it's like this now since a couple months ago it did not have this problem. It seemed to come out of nowhere.
