Rear Window Weather Strp

Have any of you replaced that piece of rubber trim on the rear window.
I got the parts bpth strips from "GM Parts for Less".:iceslolan

The dealer told me I could do it myself,just do it on a hot day to make sure the strips slip in easier:iceslolan

:banghead:a auto glass shop wanted $ 200.00 to replace it, unless they broke the window and its my fault they broke my window:eek7:, They would replace the glass at my expense:uhoh:. Also they said unless I purchased the glass from them they would not put in the weather strips. Boy how stupid,:screwy:what do you expect from a glass shop in a no horse town in Turlock, California.
They are experts at putting glass on tractors and pick-up trucks.:banghead:

I'm guessing your not talking about the trim that runs from the front of the windshield over the top to the meet in the bottom rear of the rear window?

Yes, that black strip that runs from the front wins shield over the roof and around the back window.

Thats really easy actually, its not really weather stripping, I'm guessing that the glass shop thought it was the actual weather stripping that hold the window in. If they new better and still gave you that line, they're thieves.

Take the trim off the back of the window and pull. It slides in from either end over the roof.

If I remember correctly there is a spot between the roof and the front windshield where you can slide it in also.

I'm actually seeking the weather strip that surrounds the rear window. I need to replace the weather strip (not the black plastic trim that hides the body-panel weld joint). The adhesive "goo" holds and seals the weather strip to the edge of the glass has expanded/contracted so many times now that it has pulled away. As you know, the weather strip around the rear window is designed to allow the plastic trim (described earlier) to clip into place. I need the weather strip, not the trim. Any ideas? Any experience replacing? Please advise.

I am having the same problem with my 96. Except for it is coming off of the front to when i drive down the interstate.

Mine's been loose in a couple of spots since I had the windshield replaced. I used some trim/emblem adhesive I had sitting around and glued it in (taped it up for a day or so till it cured). That stuff gets hard and brittle and doesn't really permanently bond with the paint so I can scrape it out if need be.
