Upper/Lower Strut bars? Tie bars?

I am new to this message board so sorry if this is a repetative question.

Recently I bought coilover springs for my 1994 Civic. They are not high end springs since I am not using them for racing. A friend said I should get front and rear strut bars, but I've been trying to find some and I keep reading about different things. Some are called anti-sway bars, tie bars, etc. So I am a little confused.

Can someone tell me what I would need, if anything, just for normal street driving, not for racing.

Thanks in advance,
Kristina

You wouldn't need any of them for normal street driving.

Sway bars prevent the car from leaning. Also called anti-sway bars.

Strut bars tie the tops of the shock towers together to stiffen the chassis.

This is pretty much true. But it all depends on your driving style as well. You don't have to race, for them to benifit, though they won't do so much on the street. If you are fast corner taking kind, then maybe a front upper bar, and a rear swaybar might help you out, but in general no bars are needed for the street.

Welcome to AF.com by the way.

And should you decide to add sway bars later, come back to this forum and asked sizing advice. The sway bars affect cornering characteristics, i.e. under and oversteer.
