Hey all,
I was looking at the SE-R Spec V's on Nissan's website, and they are saying they start at about 17k...
On my way home from school today, I stopped by the Nissan dealership, and the guy is telling me its +/- 20k :(
Whats the truth? Is the dealership just trying to jack up the price? They didnt even have one I could look at, but he did say they could order them...
Also... how much of a downpayment did you put down on your Spec V? I have like 1,000 right now... I know I need more than that, but how much would be a good downpayment?
One last thing... how much are you paying for insurance on yours? I hope the insurance isnt too expensive (18yr old driver, 1 accident :()
Thanks in advance,
-Grendel

Dealers always jack up prices..especially on a harder-to-find car like the Spec V. You might be able to get a better price at CarsDirect.com (http://www.carsdirect.com/home) . They deliver, finance, take care of the whole thing...for cheaper than a normal dealer.
A good downpayment is as much as you can muster. Otherwise, for the first couple years you own your car, you owe more than it's worth (they depreciate approx. $3000 as soon as you drive it off the lot). I.E.: If you get in a wreck (totalled) and insurance pays the car's value, you'll still have to make payments to the bank until the loan is paid in full. So ideally your down payment should cover depreciation.
Can't help you much on insurance, my car isn't really comparable to yours. :)

Hey guys, thanks for the info... I went to the dealership in Escondido instead of the local one, and they have a blue base Spec V for about 18,888, or a black Spec V with sunroof and audio upgrades for 20,311
Black is the color I really want, but is the sunroof and audio upgrade really worth it?
And about the depreciation... if I do buy this car, I plan on keeping it till its dead, so I dont really care about resale value :P

I didn't mean depreciation when you sell it, I meant in case someone hits you and it's totaled..
Everyone I have heard from who has a sunroof loves it, and the audio system depends on whether you'll just be pulling it out to add another. The sunroof adds $800 or so from what I remember, so if you're not planning on keeping the system I'd get the cheaper car..but then again, the expensive one is Black and if that's what you REALLY want then get it...Ahhh..just get the black one. You know that's what you really want.

*sigh* now it seems my parents will not co-sign for the car no matter what I do :(
looks like it will be another year or two before I can actually buy a nice car... so now im thinking... mabey I'll buy an old 240z, and either swap in a small block chevy V8, or the turbo motor outta my wrecked 280zx turbo...
no matter what, if im buying an import... its gonna be a datsun/nissan :D

Thattaboy. (pats head) Just kidding.
That sucks abt. the cosign. You might want to look at Infiniti G20s also...you can pick one up for $3000 and up. They are tuff little cars and are rated #1 in reliability.
Check the G20 forum (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/f201/) and look at G20Style (http://www.g20style.com)and G20.net (http://www.g20.net) for info.
My deepest sympathy on the Spec V....I was going to buy a new Sentra SE-R myself until I realized I was broke and I have no credit. Oh well...now I am saving for my G20...

Babyskyline here, I bought mine on Jan 17th. Right now I'm on my Mom's insurance with ALLSTATE and I'm only paying around like $120 a month for full coverage. I am wondering if you could do anything for me. I am 25, no tickets in like the last 3 years. What do you think, can you work with me on that?:alien:
