1993 4Runner automatic - shifter loose

The shifter in my 93 automatic seems very loose. As you sit in the
driver seat and grab the shifter...it has movement to the left and
right (about a 1/4 inch each direction). Is there a simple way to tighten
this up? Is this a problem? :uhoh:

See if there is a screw on the front of the shifter one the side toward the dashboard. See if this screw is loose.

My '94 has similar side to side freeplay, but I think this is intentional. Have you ever watched the shifter offroad? It moves with the driveline and not with the cab. Mine moves side to side but does not feel loose.
