Brake Controller

I have a 1999 Sub w the trailer package. Where do I find the wire from the brake controller ? It is usually under the dash and blue. When I hook into that wire it is much easier than running to the rear of the vehicle. However, when I bought the truck it has a 4 flat plug on the rear. I have the adapter to make it into the 6 round that I need. There is a blue wire coming out of that plug. So my question is can I even use the wire in the front if I find it or do I have to run on to the rear ? I believe I will have to. Any help is welcome.

Check your owners manual. I just added a 7-pin round connector to my 99 tahoe today. I found a description of where the wiring harness is located under the truck and a color/function for each wire in the manual. My manual says "99 Tahoe/Suburban". I had no problems.

99' subs are a pain to wire the controller. the blue wire for the ebrakes is outside in the engine compartment. under the master cylinder you will find both the blue wire (ebrake) and the orange wire (aux power). split them and run blue wire through firewall along with a wire for 12v. run the orange wire to one of the 30amp extra fuses on the main fuse box in the engine compartment. i actually ran my 12v power for my controller off of the other extra fuse. this gives only 1 wire to find. it is located under the steering column it is white and is from the brake pedal. this should be all you need. the blue and orange wire run clear to the back and there is also all of the other wires you need back there. any problems go to the following site
