Remote Keyless problem 2001 Durango 2WD

Howdy,
2001 Durango, 2WD. Owned it for about a year, no significant problems. Recently had to replace battery. About 6 weeks after battery change (so I don't think it's related) I started having intermittent problems with the RKE. Replaced the battery in the fob and even tried the 2nd fob (both used to work). Problem would come and go and was related to all functions (lock, unlock, panic). Made trip to New Mexico from Texas and it worked fine 3/4 of the trip. Since then, it has a solid fail condition. While I am certain it is not related to the fob, I'm open to ideas. I think it is the receiver module. Where is this module (behind the instrument panel maybe?)? What does it cost to replace it? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Power door locks still work, just the RKE fails.
