Well I finally decided on a contest entry. 1:24 Dub City Grand National, but there is a twist, I also picked up a 1:24 Revell Grand National (Plastic Model). I havent really figured out what Im going to do with it, the list will appear here tomorrow. But I know the GN is going to get a new chasis, new hinges, and a few other things from the plastic kit. Here are the pics

Did a quick look over on the 2 different models. The Jada GN is just slightly bigger then the Revell GN, nothing major, and nothing I cant fix

Big surprise the thay're different sizes, Jada wouldn't know 1:24 if it hit them in the face. Haven't you already modded one of these?

FlySkyline

yes I have done a GN already, but I couldnt find another diecast that I thought the modifications would work on, and look good at the same time, or find a matching plastic model. So I decided on the GN

Well I am thinking about putting wires on it, here are some pics

Is it me, or are the wires REALLY small, almost too small. There is alot of space left over in the wheel well. Here is a pic showing how much lower the car is with wires (wires on the drivers side, regular rims on the passengers side)

I am writting up the list of modifications, when its completed it will be posted here

Arent most wires small anyway? Nice job, good work as always.

I'm not really digging the wires. You need some good 5 spokes that are small enough so you can put some rubber on them. The GN doesn't look good slammed IMO.

Well after some listening, and some rounding up rims, I need your opinion, which rims do you like????

It really depends on what you're going to do if using #1. Otherwise I say go for #2...

This is what I spent my night on, brand spankin new doors! These doors open 3 ways, thats right 3 ways with one hinge. They open up the regular way, lambo style, and a butterfly type door, all on one hinge. Well here are the pics

FlySkyline
09-02-2004, 01:28 AM
I wanted to do something different besides just suicide doors, with these door hinges, I can have 3 different door styles instead of just the suicide doors. But I will keep that in mind for my next diecast. Oh yeah, there is already 2 chrome pumps in the trunk

im sorry but those doors look like shit, they are cool you made them and i definitly cant and i give you props for that but i think they look gross. Looks like a fuckin ricer burner

FlySkyline
09-02-2004, 02:01 AM
Well I am sorry you feel that way. But just because it looks like a "rice burner" now doesnt mean that it will when I finish it. You are a mini trucker, of course you are going to think any kind of door that goes up in the air is gross looking.

But does this look like a "rice burner"?

How about this one?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v105/FlySkyline/DSC02188.jpg

The point is, you cant make everyone happy. Like them or not, think they are goofy or not, all I want is the props for being able to do it, and I thank you for that.

Well just a few updates. After looking at some of Chip Foose's work, he gave me an idea. The GN is now topless, and I still have a lil something extra planned for the convertable. Also here are some pics of the first stages of my hand made seats. I am making hand made seats because I have plans to do something that the stock seats couldnt handle. So enough talk here are a few pics

Those are popsicle stick seats. They look terrible right now man, I hope they improve. Remember, tricks with doors and hoods don't make up for bad quality. I'd much rather see a car with a nice, clean interior than seats that pop up in the air...

Like I said, first stages. And yes the seats will not look like popsicle sticks, I am going to have them almost completely finished by the end of the week. And no the seats wont pop up in the air.
