I think i have finally found a replacement for my now deceased (totaled) 2nd gen MR2. I have found a 1988 MR2. What are the diiferences besides looks and a different engine, from the 2 gen MR2. Does is still handle similiarly? Where can i find a 4AGE 20v engine. How much aftermarket support does the car have. how reliable will the car be considering its a 16 year old car, not so much with the engine, but more with the controls in the interior, wiring, and so on? how roomy is it compared to the MKII any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Go to the MKI forums on mr2oc.com to talk to a huge crowd of MKI enthusiasts.

The MKI I've heard seems more nimble due to its lighter body, and it's a blast to drive. As for roominess, I have friends above 6 feet tall that fit just fine in it. The car will be reliable since it's a toyota :D But hey it IS 16 years old, so most will need some TLC before they run like a new car again.

Aftermarket support is not bad, but smaller than the Gen 2s from what I've seen.

As for the 20V engine, I'm not too sure on that, try mr2oc for that one too.
