Has anyone ever removed the mass air sensor screen on the TB? I seen that and being a mustang 5.0L guy i would figure that restricts the intake like crazy? I remember someone doing that though and i think they had all sorts of problem afterwards.. Not sure though.. if anyone has done this that would be great.

I tried it on my 94, and my idle got very rough, and the car began to sputter, and would have died if I hadn't turned it off. Replaced the screen and all was well again.

It is argued that the screen seperates the air and puts it more evenly in the combustion chamber. Pull it out and try it, you've got nothing to lose. If your idle gets rough, just put it back.

It's removeable, there is a circular pinch clamp holding it in, remove it, and carefully pry it out. See this for more details: http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/free_mods/TB_Screen_Removal.htm

i'll tell you what i am experiencing, PLENTY MORE POWER, The idle is good. Doesn't seem rough at all, but definetly more power and quicker response. I recommend this mod to all if it works for them.

Look at your tach while idling, does it seem to variate any, mine is rock solid normally, but I'll try it again.

When I first started it, it varied slightly kinda like it had a nice cam, i turned it off, and on a few times and drove it to work, 30miles highway, and when I came to a stop it was smooth and with foot off the brake it didn't jerk or race any.. seemed normal just with enough power to roast the tires in 1st gear. I just got to get this freekin torque converter issue fixed.

ooh, I'll definatly give it another shot, if it'll make nice white tire smoke...

Would you mind timing a 0-60 run?

When I get out of work, i'll time 0-60 on the expressway with a CD counter.. i'll post it when i get it.

Pulled it out, drove about 10 miles, not very noticeable acceleration from a stand still, but it pulls hard if I were to make a pass, also, going up a hil that usually forces the automatic to downshift to first for, pulled strongly with second.

Lets see how it affects fuel economy now...

I went to lunch and back, testing out the power, gas gauge hasn't moved yet... seems good so far... very exciting.. I have ported out the stock airbox, and just took off the entire front end of the box so that the entire air filter is visible.. that made a difference when i did that and it sounds way good when you get on it.

What keeps the filter from falling out?

I dremoled off the front of the cover but left the ring in place so i squared out about a 6 inch box..

Look in the airbox area, see that hole between the headlight and the radiator? I'm pondering a ram-air setup. I'm not sure how large a pipe I can get down there though.
