I am wondering if a drop in air intake filter can lower my gas milage.. b/c i believe after installing one in my corolla my gas milage decreased.. can someone help or am i imagining things

yes...installing an intake will greatly reduse your gas mileage...the reason being is because you have a thing called an air sensor...and what that does is tell your EFI(assuming it is EFI) how much air is going in so it can calculate how much gas to put in...also known as an air to fuel ratio...and since you have more air going in as opposed to your stock air box the EFI has to counter it with more fuel...and thats why its a performance part...you cant get power without a little sacrifice

what year is it. because in 93's (and i would assume until 97) the censor is under the filter and it shouldn't affect it. honestly, after puting a SRI on my car it seems like gas milage is a little better. could just be me though

no...the sensor is located off to the side on the box...
