your work is so flawless!

are those scratch built engine dress ups? If not, where do you get your supplies because I would love to build an engine any where near good as that one.

Thank you very much!
The engine detail is scratch built using extra pieces from various places.
The larger tube at the base of the sparkplug wires is from a 12 scale motorcycle kit.
The Black wires are Model Factory Hiro purchased from www.1999.co.jp.
The rest is very fine solder painted various colors.
Wire clamps (you really cannot see in the pictures) are foil tape cut very very thin and painted flat black.
They should actually be gloss but I wanted some separation in color to make them visible.
Biggest part of success here was the reference pictures that can be found in the diary on my website www.racedaymodels.com

The body has been primed and interior started.
More updates will be coming soon.

Update:

Body was primed, bare metal foil placed over the emblems. The car was then painted metalic green.
The emblems were then lightly sanded to take off the top layer of paint, exposing the bare metal foil.
Never tried this before but i'm pleased with how it turned out.

The engine was test fitted again following this stage.

What color do you use for the panel lines on something this dark? Suggestions are needed!

Enjoy.

Builder,
That`s a great result on the BMF, IMO!
What are your thoughts on the duplicolor? I have been using it wherever I can, and I dont think any others come close as far as complete coverage.

Very nice

Just a question about your BMF technique. I guess you removed the excess of BMF around the logos before you painted the green?

Thanks everyone!

Hawk312, I love Dupli Color!
They do cover well and they have an outstanding range of colors. I do have a problem getting a glossy finish most times resulting in a lot of clear coats and polish!

Deedlit, I removed the majority of the BMF before painting. Be careful when doing this as it is easy to peal up the BMF, or the knife blade can leave marks that will need to be sanded out. I did this and had to sart over and sand the fine cuts out of the area.

Another update will be coming this weekend.

great job on that bare metal foil. I have to try that. What do you use to stick it to the surface?
I've tried using some silver leaf type stuff but it won't stick to any glues that I've got.

BMF is self-adhesive.
