Pearl Harbor

Just saw this movie on Saturday. To all those who are remotely interested in this historical event. Go see the movie. It was very deep. Almost made you feel like you were there or that it just happened. It's crazy how things occurred. If those idiots in the radar booth that picked them up just reported it, who knows, maybe the casualties wouldn't of been so high. I highly recommend peeps in here to go see it.

Depending on your taste. If you're into that era, you'll definitely like it. I think they could have concentrated more on the actual thing than adding the love theme to it. But all in all, the effects were good and the flying wasn't too shabby.

Anyone know the movie where they go back in time to correct Pearl Harbor and they do it by flying supersonic and the bamboo planes the Japanese are flying in all just disintegrate when the boom comes?

I'm being serious, by the way...I have seen that movie before, and it was pretty good, but that's all I remember. I'd like to see it again.

It's called "Count Down" if I'm not mistaken. I've seen it plenty of times. Love it everytime. I just wish they would've gotten involved, not that it would change anything.:D

Countdown doesnt' sound quite right, but then again...I don't think I'd remember if I heard it. So, you're probably right. Thanks.

I saw it opening night and I thought it was good. Apparently,thier is some historical accuracy controversy, but I though it was good. It wasn't all that romancy and it did have some very good action scenes. It was all American propaganda though, but I didn't mind. To tell the truth, I wanted to see the Japanese get bombed in the end cause the movie was putting it as if the Americans had just lost the war at Pearl Harbour.

I guess you could say the USA got the last laugh though !!!!

Finally got to see it last night...what a movie.

If what happen is a true account of what happened, (how they picked them up on radar and done nothing) those poor buggers on the boats never stood a hope in hell. A well planned move by the Japs really caught them napping.

It really was a big kick in the arse for the States though.

Such a huge waste of live etc.......but i guess thats war :eek:

Apparenlt some things were ture. The boys at Pearl Harbour (Affleck and Hartnett) were real and they did shoot down 7 Japs. Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character was really Doris Miller a Cook on the Arizona or Oklahoma but, he didn't shoot down the plane he just stayed at his Captain's side.

Thought it took a lot of guts what they done to try and take off to take on 300 odd Jap fighter planes.

Intresting how the Japs didn't send the second wave in after the first lot did the damage.

i didnt like it too much. saving private ryan did so much more for DDay than pearl harbor did for pearl harbor. PH (to me) was just a love story set during WWII. when affleck and hartnett jumped in their planes and shot down 7 japs, did the japs suddenly get scared of those two guys and back out immediately??? when affleck and hartnett shot down that last guy everything was over. i thought that was dumb. everything after pearl harbor was dumb. speilberg didnt call SPR D-Day. i also dont like how the directors and producers just wanted to make money. they did this by blurring the hospital to recieve a PG 13 rating. SPR wanted reality and that movie gave me so much respect for the men and women who fight to keep our independence. to sum up..i thought pearl harbor was just another movie

yea, i agree, saving private ryan is much better. and tora tora tora is much more historically acurate than pearl harbor
