The Tornado is a complete waste. Snake oil crap.

Agreed.

If a two dollar piece of aluminum helped with power and gas mileage, then all of the manufacturers would just make it a standard feature.

Try a high flow air filter first. I noticed some improved power and fuel economy (only about 1mpg though) with a K&N Replacement filter (about $40). There is also some other brands out there now too. My research into the Tornado indicated that the swirling air they claim helps was killed when it went through the small holes in the intake manifold. So their results may only be valid with certain other changes. There is also a thick screen on the Mass Air Sensor that would probably cause problems as well. Other postings also seem to indicate that if you want better milage things like tire pressure, tune ups, premium plugs/wires are much more effective and in some cases cheaper.

As a side note, I noticed that this posting has 3 ads at the top for Tornado and one for some other similiar device :-)

I would use caution when using a high flow air filter such as a K&N. They allow more air to flow because they have less filtration. I used one for a while on a '95 Camaro. Always would find grit, sand, and dirt that got past the filter.
