I still don't get this dyno thing. The STi says it's 300 hp. So it's not 300?
In either case, the STi will smoke most cars on the road without doing a thing to it.
Can you name any stock cars that are faster than an STi for the same sticker or lower? Maybe the Evo 8, but nothing else.

I use octane 97 anyhow. So motul? where do I get oils like that? I don't think I have ever topped out a car. I doubt I will for a long time, I don't street race...often :)

ok I use octane 97 anyways, but what do you mean redline? Max rpm? (still new to this) i don't think my car has a tachometer either. So are they hard to put in? And where do you get mutal? I have never heard of or seen that at any parts store around here. wow lots of questions, thanks for being patient guys.

you can't beat the STI and Evo's price for performance, hte next up is almost 2x the price of either one,
As for the dyno thing... the engine itself produces the 300hp that it says it does...or roughly inthe rangen at the flywheel (i.e. crank) but then tehy add more weight to the equation clutch, transmission, driveaxle, each has weight and takes energy to put in motion. that robs you of your horsepower. taking your 300hp car to a 250whp in no time. whp (wheel horsepower) is the only horsepower that counts because if the power is not getting to the ground, its useless

97 octane?! man we dont' have any of that around here. Redline is max rpm, 92 olds prolly won't have a tach on it, redline prolly isn't too high eitherand it shouldnt' be hard to install, or you can take it to a professional, and tachs you can find at almost any autoparts store most commonly in a 5 1/2 inch setup but u can find smaller 3 1/4 inches in some places (little less obvious) and they should come w/ shiftlight option (pick a point to shift and it lghts up when you need to) shiftlights don't come by themselves...i checked...

Okay, I get it now. I personally don't like the Evo's looks. Nor do I trust it's maker after the issues I've had.
The STi looks like a real rally car, and has a great record. I'd feel safer in the STi, too. What kind of mods other than the fuel pump and intake could a peron do to the STi to get the hp up?

for that check Sport Compact Car magazine, there is a guide to upgrading suspension, and power boosting, basic things... bigger turbo, better exhaust, AFC, and some other things, i'm not too familiar w/ STI's i prefer DSM performance

I would suggest that you not check out SCC, but pick up Modified Mag. It is alot more in depth and a more serious magazine. Much more technical, and things in SCC are reprinted from or in Turbo magazine (both owned by the same company). SCC does the same articles year after year.
Besides fuel upgrades, you would need to get a piggyback or standalone ECU. This can allow you to up your boost and gain more horsepower. Tuning will also net you a good gain, as well as upgrading the engine components.

ehhhh...a lotta guys i kno have hondas and swear by them...hehehe still gotta race the prelude...grr
i kno enough to get me around talking w/ them like engines and i kno what combinations of parts put out what kinda times on the 1/4, but performance parts i'm not really clear and turbos i'm still figuring out...i do kno that if u put a B18 in a crx thoug...that would be soemthing!!!
